The sage dental office on Kendall Drive is excellent. They are very professional. They are very personal about all of your needs and the office is very clean and all of the representatives there could not be nicer. Great place to go and I feel very good about the experience that I had there. Would recommend this for anybody that’s looking for a dentist

My family and I recently moved to Miami and chose SAGE Dental simply because it was close to our home. That turned out to be a mistake. At my first appointment, I scheduled cleanings for my son and myself. While my son was in the chair, an employee approached me with an iPad asking for my signature, saying the dentist "recommended gum treatment due to swelling." I noticed it was $30 out of pocket, which immediately felt odd. We had the same dentist in Illinois for over 4 years, and I was never charged separately for any "gum treatments." Still, trusting the office, I signed. When it was my turn, I was presented with the same iPad and same charge. This time, I asked questions: What exactly is this? Why am I paying extra? Why isn’t this covered by insurance? The explanation was vague and dismissive ("people usually feel discomfort after cleanings"). I declined and said I only wanted my cleaning. I have always been told by my longtime dentist that many add-ons (like fluoride or "special treatments") are often upsells, not necessities. That’s when I became very cautious of this office. Fast forward to last week: my husband went in for a routine cleaning. Later, I noticed he was charged $94. A routine cleaning that is fully covered by insurance. When I asked him why, he explained that he was handed an iPad and asked to sign. He specifically asked, "Is this for the cleaning?" and was told yes. So he signed. Important context: my husband only speaks English, and the employee assisting him did not clearly explain that these were additional, non-covered services. Half the staff does not speak English as their first language, which normally wouldn’t bother me (I’m bilingual), but in this case it absolutely matters—because nothing was properly explained. I called the office immediately. They refused a refund, saying "he signed the iPad." They also claimed that aftercare instructions (mouthwash, etc.) are supposed to be explained afterward—which NEVER happened for my son OR my husband. So let me be clear: Customers are being handed iPads Told it’s "for the cleaning" Not informed it’s an extra charge Not told it’s not covered by insurance Not given aftercare instructions Then denied refunds because of a signature This feels misleading at best and predatory at worst—especially for patients who are not the primary insurance holder or who don’t know to challenge these charges. I have never experienced this level of aggressive upselling at a dental office. We feel completely taken advantage of. I am writing this review to warn others: If you are looking for an honest, transparent, and trustworthy dentist—do NOT choose SAGE Dental. My family and I will not be returning.

My wife took our minor daughter to Sage Dental in Kendall. Our daughter has a documented history of panic attacks related to needles and dental procedures, and we trusted the staff to show appropriate care and sensitivity. After laughing gas and an injection were administered, our daughter became visibly anxious and began showing signs of a panic attack. My wife calmly tried to comfort her by making silly faces. Instead of supporting a distressed child, Dr. Karen Hernandez Baco abruptly told my wife to leave the room and spoke to her in a rude and dismissive manner, even saying she was "acting like a child." The procedure was stopped after our daughter had already been medicated. When concerns were raised, the response was sarcastic and dismissive, and the behavior was later denied despite witnesses being present. This experience was not isolated. On a previous visit months earlier, I accompanied my daughter and went to the front desk to request a required school letter. The front desk staff ignored me entirely while continuing to work on their computers, despite me standing there for several minutes. Even after repositioning myself to be clearly visible, I was still not acknowledged. I ultimately had to walk into the administrative office to ask for help, at which point staff questioned why the front desk was not assisting me. Only then was the letter prepared promptly. Our daughter was left emotionally shaken and did not receive completed care. The lack of empathy, communication, and professionalism from both clinical and front desk staff was deeply concerning. We would not recommend this office for children with anxiety or families who expect basic courtesy and attentiveness.

My experience was excellent from the first moment. The treatment was very professional and friendly; they explained each step of the procedure with clarity and patience, which made me feel very calm. The office is impeccable, modern and with the latest technology equipment. In addition, the staff is super attentive and they are always aware that you feel comfortable. The result of the treatment exceeded my expectations.

Do not go to this scam service. I’m still getting dental bills from 2 years ago. Whatever service they do and no matter how many times you pay for it they’ll still bill you. I paid for a crown twice. The first time I paid I asked to see the bill and they showed me what they were charging for each service. The next visit about a month later they charged me more for the crown I already paid for. I asked for an explanation and they said the insurance didn’t cover it one month later. No other dental service operates like this. I paid that bill reluctantly and never returned. Now they are sending me another bill partly for the same crown and partly for the service that followed. It has been 2 years since I visited this dentist why am I getting a bill now and not a month or two later? This is obvious cash grab. The doctors might be knowledgeable and good at their jobs but it is still a corporation and their only motive is profit. They will bill you to the end of time and there is nothing you can do about it. Please stay away from this organization.
