Took our 7 year old son. He needed his tooth extracted because half of the root was in his gum line and half was outside of it, not an easy extraction was worried we would need to go to an oral surgeon. Dr. Kim with great precision took out his entire tooth first try! No need for oral surgeon! Dr. Kim has a wonderful clear direct approach with children. Our son was relaxed and comfortable throughout his entire visit. Her dental assistant also had such a warm welcoming bedside manner which is HUGE for kids! Her office is beautifully decorated bright and cheerful! Her front desk goes over and beyond between insurance and out of pocket expenses for each visit. Goes over the treatment plan in fine detail too. For our son, his favorite part is the gum ball machine where he receives a coin to insert to get a prize for his awesome visit. For my hubby & I , it was our mind was at ease as parents because our son was being handled with the best care by the BEST! Dr. Kim you are truly amazing at what you do! Thank you!
After a recent experience at Dear Tooth Fairy, I would give this business zero stars if I could. Our family of four were patients for over 7 years and tolerated the unkind staff and booking difficulties over the years, but our last visit was the most disturbing experience I have ever had with a doctor or office and I would advise against anyone using their dental or orthodontics services, especially for children. My 7 year old child had an orthodontist visit with the orthodontist, Dr. Song, (who is completely ill-equipped to deal with children), to be fitted for his Invisalign. He did not have the correct size mouthpiece for my 7 year old child; they did not have the room set up for a child, but rather an adult, and instead of explaining what he would be doing before starting the procedure, he waited until after my son was inconsolable. The fitting was not completed during this visit. When I voiced my concern with the way the appointment was handled, along with disappointment at the inability for the staff to reschedule in a timely manner (our next appointment was scheduled for 6 weeks later, after already waiting weeks on the Invisalign molds) he was unable to provide answers and suggested that finding a new orthodontist was the best option. Keep in mind, Dear Tooth Fairy claims to work well with children with anxiety and take a "gentle" approach. Absolutely nothing about his approach was gentle; the television set was even set to a home building show for an adult, not a child. Dr. Song didn't know where any equipment was and didn't know how to change the channel. They spent 15 minutes trying to get the channel changed, after 10 minutes of trying to find the correct size mouth piece but then told me they didn't have time to complete the appointment. When we reached out to speak to Dr. Kim who has known my family, as mentioned, for 7 years, she refused to speak to us over the phone, and STILL has yet to. She unequivocally supported her other practitioner and offered a refund for all services with Dr. Song. Receiving that refund took weeks, even though it was a DIRECT payment to Dear Tooth Fairy; we are still awaiting the refund on our insurance portion. Bottom line, Dr. Kim has no backbone to speak with parents and no concern for human decency or respect, let alone speciality care for children. This is only magnified by the people she hires to work at the facility. Rosemary, who is expected to work the front desk, assist with x-rays, and procedures in the dental rooms is the most unkind person I have ever met in my life. She is rude over the phone and in person, and is not kind to children. Just one recent example, we arrived for an appointment at the end of October ‘25 that was scheduled for 2:00pm. We arrived at 1:50pm, as requested in all paperwork you receive prior to your appointment to arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. At arrival, Rosemary was eating lunch at the desk, she did not say hello, but said "you need to come back at 2:00pm, I'm still on my lunch." I asked if we could wait inside since it was a particularly cold day and she said "no, come back at 2:00pm." Dr. Song arrived at 2:10pm back from his lunch break for our 2:00 p.m. scheduled appointment - ten minutes late. The lack of professionalism, care for patients - who are children, and overall nature of both the facility and the people that work there should be enough to close this place down for good. Please take this horrendous experience as a warning and find yourself a dentist anywhere else. Also note that Dr. Min Jin Kim and Dr. Richard Song offer their services at other facilities as well, so be sure to check that they are not your dentist at another location.
I took my son to have a bunch of fillings done today. He was a difficult patient because he would not open his mouth wide enough for Dr. Kim. Somehow she managed him with delicate care and communication that allowed Dr.Kim to execute all of his cavities! She completed them in such a timely fashion and told my son he could have lunch right away afterwards. Win! win !for father & son to have lunch together right after seeing the dentist! He also needed to get an impression done for a bottom space maintainer. In a blink of an eye it was already done! Our son will be continuing his treatment going forward with Dr. Kim and her staff! Everyone is amazing and comforting and goes the extra mile for their patients!!
My son has been seeing Dr. Kim since his first dental visit (~2 years). Each time, I was unimpressed with Dr. Kim's interactions with him (saying things like, "don't do this!") - as someone who works with kids, I was surprised to see a PEDIATRIC dentist telling a toddler what not to do, but I let it slide. The practice was convenient for us with plenty of parking, and the office staff was wonderful (hence the 2 stars instead of 1). Our appointment today solidified that we will not be returning. As my son was sitting STILL in the chair getting his teeth cleaned, Dr. Kim criticized how my son was handling the appointment and said this loudly in front of him. Not only had he gotten x-rays (the first time he has done this) successfully prior to the cleaning, he also tolerated the cleaning without issue (he twitched when the brush tickled his top teeth with no other incident). From the beginning I was surprised Dr. Kim was working exclusively with children based on her interactions with my son - and today solidified my decision to change practices. I thought about emailing this directly to Dr. Kim but frankly don't feel like she will care enough to read it; instead, I thought it would be more helpful for other families to see this review before deciding to take their children to this practice.
We were patients of Dr. Kim’s for 7 years - our entire family. After a horrible interaction with the practice’s orthodontist, Dr. Song, our family was told we needed to seek treatment elsewhere. Dr. Kim refused to speak with us, and instead offered a refund and to make the transition to a new provider "easy." This review is targeted at THAT experience - REFUNDING. For services rendered and paid DIRECTLY to Dear Tooth Fairy during an interaction with Dr. Song, our refund took weeks and several emails/follow-ups to resolve. First, a direct payment to Dear Tooth Fairy had to be contested with our credit card company because of how long Dr. Kim’s charge reversal took to be processed. It wasn’t until legal action was threatened that our refund - incredulously - was processed the same day. Similarly - in order to have our insurance benefit credit re-instated, Dr. Kim’s office needed to provide a notice that they would be discontinuing service and agreeing to the refund. I even provided her with the form and how to get it. I asked for a copy of this 4+ times, and never received it. I was told it was "sent via snail mail" - but was refused to be provided a copy by Dr. Kim or her staff. Ultimately, I had to file a complaint directly with my insurance provider, and thankfully, we’ll get our benefit back. All in all, this comes down to horrible communication and a complete disregard for patients and their experiences. Be warned - if a refund is offered, you need to continuously and meticulously follow-up. We have still not received ANY official paper trail from their business, which continues to make this process far from "easy."
We had already been to this office for an initial routine checkup and cleaning in December which was fast and easy with our two year old. Today we had a dental emergency and Dr. Kim was able to get us in quickly, on a Saturday, and she was able to extract a badly cracked top right incisor for our almost 3 year old with minimal pain and discomfort using laughing gas and novocaine. She and her staff are excellent with children, fast, efficient and professional. We are very thankful for the services received today and would highly recommend them.
Dr Kim and her staff are Extremely professional. Immediately walking into the office my kids were at ease because of the kid friendly environment and Decorations. The ease of the appointment making process and registration makes it easy on parents. Dr Kim made both of my kids feel calm through the entire process of having their exam and cleaning. She was very detailed in explaining everything and extremely knowledgeable. She was highly recommended to me and I will be definitely passing on the recommendation
