My husband went to Midwestern University Dental Clinic for one reason — an obviously infected tooth that was documented as the top priority in his treatment plan. Despite this, the clinic dragged him through five separate appointments filled with repeat imaging, a cleaning, and two unrelated fillings, yet never treated the infected tooth. This a documented risk / hit to patient safety, as a failure to prioritize urgent care, or a referral to a practice that would handle the clearly worsening infection, delayed proper treatment and caused true patient harm. A clear demonstration of the clinics inability to uphold their responsibility of diagnosing and/or treating patients. His condition deteriorated so badly that he ended up in the emergency room (aditional financial impact), where he required stronger antibiotics and pain medication. Even after informing the clinic of this, they still scheduled more imaging and again, only another consultation — not treatment. We ultimately had to go to an emergency dentist who extracted the tooth in under an hour, proving that proper care could have — and should have — been provided much earlier (negligence or substandard care). We paid $350 for an emergency appointment, imaging and the extraction elsewhere. Meanwhile, the clinic charged nearly $1,000 for procedures that ignored his actual medical need and substansial risk for systemic infection. A supervising dentist even implied he couldn't receive care for the infected tooth unless he agreed to complete their entire treatment plan, suggesting academics or portfolio building — not actual patient care — was the priority. This was not just poor service — it was a blatant delay of necessary medical care, causing avoidable pain, financial loss, and unnecessary risk. I strongly believe this reflects negligence, poor clinical judgment and should be taken seriously in regards to patient safety. We’ve spent weeks trying to recover money for appointments that were not only unnecessary and non-urgent, but actively made his condition worse. Despite this, Dr. Greenwood and upper leadership have shown no sense of accountability for the financial and physical harm they’ve caused to real patients. Don’t waste your money, time, or emotional energy — go to a different clinic. Midwestern University may appear cheaper, but it’s clear they exploit patients under the guise of "education."
I started my dental experience in the latter part of July, I believe. At first, I was okay with it. A little frustrated because of the time in between appts. I'm that client who could be labeled as a "Karen". And I voiced my unjustified opinion twice. Both times, the sweet little dental student, Rachel, was so kind and understanding. So was the gentleman who was in charge. There were two dental students that were taking care of my needs. Katelynn (hope I spelled that right) and Rachel. These two young ladies are going to make OUTSTANDING dentists! I've only received my top partial so far. But the end results are so magnificent that I don't even need adhesive! How is that possible? I do not know. All I have to say is I have NO DOUBT my bottom partial will be just as perfect. My recommendation is that if you're looking for over night dentures or a dentist that isn't going to follow procedure, this isn't the place to go. But if you're looking for outstanding service and the end result being as close to perfect as you can get it, just a little bit of a wait in between appointments? Then definitely Midwestern Dental is your go to! Thank you Rachel and Katlyn for my smile back. From a sixty year old lady who thought being pretty again was clear out of her reach until you two came along. God bless you both And my whatever path you choose in life lead you only to true happiness ❤️🙏
This place is a joke - they continually change their treatment plan. When you question they will drop you as a patient. Edit to response: Why would you lie about wanting to resolve issues? None of the staff reached out to communicate. You just mailed a letter saying your are dropped and will provide emergency care for 30 days.
For being a college with students learning on hands I do recommend this for anyone getting full service of dentures. Every step from start to finish took six months,, students learning were great as the staff also. They do expect you to be on time. So thank you to staff n students. A big thumbs up 💯 % great work. I went years ago for treatment and after several visits and over $1,000 spet I had a root canal and I was told they would put a crown. After several visits they said it didn't need one the tooth was strong. But it broke in less than a year and had to to get it taken out.
I had a wonderful experience with the students at this school. They are very professional, and very well trained. I definitely recommend getting services here. This is a very generous and effective school.
Plenty of nearby parking, very busy facility but waiting room is large and kept clean-never a long wait. My student dentists were very friendly, confident, knowledgeable and considerate. We communicated well in that I felt listened to and they returned calls promptly. At certain junctures, their work was checked by the attending dentist, they received praise for doing a great job with my treatment. Thanks to Cameron, Peyton, Doctors and staff for all the exceptional care.
