Decatur Smiles

My family has been going to Decatur Smiles for years, always out-of-network, and our cleanings have consistently cost $0. At our August visit, however, we were suddenly charged $507 for routine cleanings for a family of four with no prior warning that anything had changed. When I called to understand why, I spoke with Joey in the finance office. She told me they had recently hired a consultant who advised them to stop waiving the fees associated with out-of-network cleanings. This was the first time anyone had ever mentioned that these fees even existed, let alone that the practice had been choosing to waive them until now. When I pointed out that it was completely unfair to make this change without notifying existing patients, she got very quiet and said she would call me back. She never did. Instead, she emailed me later saying only that I should know I’m out of network—which I’ve always known. That wasn’t the issue. The issue is that the practice changed its billing policy and didn’t tell anyone, resulting in a huge surprise bill. Based on how the phone call went, I genuinely don’t think she was supposed to mention the consultant or the policy change at all. This entire situation feels deceptive and unprofessional. If a practice decides to stop waiving fees they have always waived, they should be transparent and notify patients ahead of time. Because of the unexpected charges, the lack of communication, and the dismissive response afterward, I would not recommend Decatur Smiles.

Ok looook I know they are great at what they do but if yall don’t stop booking appointments I’m never going to get MY appointment… hehe .. stop stop 🔪

I recently had a new patient appointment here and the reviews are good for a reason. My hygienist was extremely skilled and had a wonderful bedside manner. I have had very negative experiences with dentists in the past so I am always very nervous/hate going in but that was not my experience here. Very happy to have found this office.

Dr. Dillon is very knowledgeable, does a correct diagnosis of the issues, is skilled, very professional, caring and is someone with integrity. She cares about her patients and doesn’t over treat anyone. I trust her as my dentist. My husband and I drive all the way from Johns Creek because there is no other dentist we trust as much as we trust her. My husband just had a cleaning and says that the hygienist Katie is very gentle and thorough. The office is very busy and for good reason. I would recommend this practice to anyone.

I started going to this practice after we switched dental plans. Now my husband and kids go here as well! It’s a great family practice. Dr. Dillon is amazing and always has a practical approach to your needs and care. The kids (6 and 10) just had their first visit and the hygienist really spent time with them to help them understand how to care for their teeth. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable and makes scheduling and understanding the billing easy. I’m definitely glad to have found this practice!

Our first visit to the dentist couldn't have been any better! The administrative staff were welcoming and kind. They voluntarily offered school forms if needed and confirmed our son's name (as his full name could all be first names). The hygienist was vibrant and fun spirited. Which brings me to Dr. Dillon. Dr. Dillon was pleasant and obviously had experience working with toddlers. She treated our family with kindness, even to the extent of being complimentary of our home practices. Dr. Dillon was patience and playful with our son. Her expertise were evident as she shared a thorough report of all the happenings in my son's mouth from a lightning quick examination. We were also made aware things to look for in the future. Before we left, we took advantage of the photo opportunity, holding the 1st Dentist Visit prop. They sent us home with a goody bag and happy child. Decatur Smiles Rock!

Dr. Dillon and her team are wonderful! Decatur Smiles is the best dental facility I have ever been to. I enjoy taking my family members there as they are efficient do a perfect job from routine cleanings to perfectly fixing chips or any other dental irregularities one might have. Decatur Smiles creates a positive and happy place for their employees as well as clients. The reception and intake is warm and friendly and the staff are thorough upon check out and are highly skilled working together to make a seamless experience with your insurance providers in every way.
