I’ve been a patient of New England Dental for well over a decade, but the quality and consistency of care I received over the past year has been extremely disappointing. Years ago, when I did not have insurance, I paid $150 out of pocket for a night guard that lasted for years without a single structural issue. That reliable experience is what made me trust the office enough to replace it there again. However, since replacing that original guard, I’ve received 2–3 new guards from this office in the past year alone and every one of them cracked or broke within just a few months. Despite having insurance this time, the office billed my insurance hundreds of dollars and still charged me $250 out of pocket for a guard that failed almost immediately. Each guard required two appointments (impressions and fitting), resulting in multiple trips away from work (~6 total trips). On one occasion, I even had to squeeze in a tiny 30‑minute window during my workday just to meet with their technician. When I sought a second opinion from two dentists in Norwalk, I was told the guards I received from New England Dental looked more like retainers than properly fabricated night guards, which aligns with how easily they fractured. Despite the repeated failures, the inconvenience, the money spent, and the questionable fabrication quality, the office refused to provide any refund. You point out that at one replacement was provided "at no charge" does not address the fact that the prior, fully billed guards repeatedly broke and required multiple visits each time. After more than a decade as a loyal patient, the way this situation was handled was extremely disappointing. I will be pursuing the matter further with my insurance provider, and based on this experience, I cannot recommend this practice. Edit: You know they're wrong when they ignore two-thirds of your detailed message AND your direct email regarding this. As other reviews have stated, the office manager's fragile ego does not align with medical care.

5-Star Review New England Dental I had an amazing experience at New England Dental during my cleaning yesterday. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel welcomed and cared for. The front desk was warm and efficient, helping everything move smoothly. My hygienist took great care of me, gentle, thorough, and very informative about what she was doing the entire time. She made the cleaning feel easy, and my teeth have never felt better. The dentist was also incredibly kind and took the time to explain what he saw and what I should watch for moving forward. The space is clean, comfortable, and definitely patient-centered. If you’re looking for a dental office that combines professionalism with genuine care, New England Dental is it. I’m actually looking forward to my next visit, that’s how good the experience was! Highly recommend. 🦷✨

New England has been taking care of our dental hygiene for over a decade now. All the Doctors and the staff are very courteous and professional at all times. I go there twice a year for my annual dental hygiene and Dr Golnar does an excellent job.

New England Dental and staff was absolutely amazing hands-down I would definitely recommend this practice to anyone. I had an appointment scheduled at one. I called to reschedule or move the appointment to a later Time, they graciously accommodated me . when i came in I was greeted with smiles and professionalism. I also had a chipped tooth. I knew that I was coming in for a general routine cleaning. They also was very accommodative and gave me a fill-in. Dr. Matt and his assistant was amazing and have great bedside manner and in this day and age, this is what you need to have a great practice . the manager that manages the practice he is absolutely hands-down, amazing and very professional. So to anyone that's looking for a New Dentist please don't hesitate to schedule with New England Dental Danbury.

New England Dental in Danbury has been the worst dental experience my family has ever dealt with. My mother first visited this office about a year ago, and from that very first appointment, it has been nothing but stress, confusion, and unprofessional behavior. My mother needed dentures, and her insurance was supposed to cover the process. Instead, the office manager insisted she had to pay $1,500 for temporary dentures and then wait 3–4 months before even starting the permanent ones. Every visit since then has been another issue—either with the dentist or with the office manager, who talks to patients as if he owns the place and has no understanding of how to speak to people who are frustrated and just want proper care. They never follow up. They never call my mother back. She has left this office in tears multiple times, and not once has anyone reached out to check on her or help her move forward with her treatment. Today I called to schedule a pickup for her dentures, only to be told they "don’t have them" and that there’s "another process" needed for insurance approval—something completely different from what they told us before. The staff kept putting me on hold, giving vague answers, and showing zero professionalism. Minutes later, the manager called me with an attitude, claiming he wouldn’t allow anyone to "talk to his staff like that," even though he didn’t hear the conversation and had no idea what was actually said. This office has shown no compassion, no organization, and no respect for patients—especially elderly ones who depend on them for proper care. After everything my mother has gone through, I would never recommend this place to anyone. Save yourself the stress and go somewhere that actually values their patients.

This was my very first visit at New England Dental in Danbury for a routine annual cleaning, and I left extremely disappointed and concerned. The dentist told me I had four cavities that required drilling and fillings — which immediately raised red flags since I’ve seen other dentists within the past year who found no issues or developing cavities. The x-ray process was unusually uncomfortable. The dental assistant struggled to position the equipment correctly for imaging and caused pain during the procedure — something I’ve never experienced before in years of regular dental visits. Another dental assistant had to step in to help her because of my pain. The cleaning itself felt rushed (less than 5-8 minutes) and careless. Water was splashing on my face, and there was no brushing or flossing, which is standard at any reputable office. The dentist mentioned I had "rotting" on two fillings I’ve had done years prior and that I needed fillings on two new teeth with small cavities, totaling 4 cavities. I went for a second opinion at another dental office, where I was told I had no cavities at all that were deep enough in the enamel to require fillings. The dentist there showed me that the so-called "rotting" was just superficial staining — which she simply polished off in seconds. I would strongly advise anyone to be very cautious about visiting this practice. Based on my experience, their recommendations felt unnecessary and not in the best interest of the patient. The office environment felt cold and unwelcoming as well (except the front desk receptionist who was friendly). I also asked for clarification for the treatment plan and the person handling the receipts/billing was a bit rude.. I had high hopes given the seemingly positive Google ratings, but this visit left me questioning their integrity and professionalism. I will not be returning. Edit to reply: 10/14/25 I definitely didn’t have any issues with HIPAA compliance nor skepticism. Not sure how that was found from your charts nor has anything to do with my bad experience. It also doesn’t provide any basis or excuse for why a dentist who is supposed to be have the patient’s best interest / comfort in mind would recommend drilling into teeth that didn’t need drilling.

Buyer beware! I don't normally write reviews but I feel obligated to share my experience and hopefully save some heartburn for other people. I recently moved to the area and had to look for a new dentist. I picked NE Dental because it had great reviews online. The people on the phone were lovely and very accommodating re times and dates. I go to the dentist twice a year for cleaning and wellness and am strict about my dental care. I was pleasantly surprised that actually a dentist from the practice did my cleaning, However I felt it was very short compared to what I'm used to but that was not the half of it. After taking extensive X-rays she comes in and tells me I have 4 cavities!! The office manager gave me an estimate and even told me I could get it done right away if I wanted to. I felt pressured and had a bad feeling so I declined. I immediately went to see my previous dental practice in Avon (whom I love) and to my surprise and anger they confirmed they could not find ANY evidence of cavities!! Even more, NE Dental conveniently missed to send them the key X-rays for the cavities in question and had to take their own (at my own expense) to confirm. It is outrageous that they would misdiagnose and propose to treat something that was not present. If I had more time I would complain to the BBB but in the meantime I hope this serves as a warning for other patients. And if anybody else experiences something similar they will; have a precedent to sue if necessary/ I hate scammers and people taking advantage of me or anybody else for that matter *****************UPDATE**************** After posting my review above I read the 1 star reviews out of curiosity and saw Linda T's review that was almost EXACTLY as mine and I had not even read it before! They also misdiagnosed 4 cavities! What are the chances! I have hard copies of the documents and estimate they gave me so there is no chance this was a "misunderstanding" as they wrote in their reply to Linda T. I'm curious to see what they will come up with this time re my review. I wonder how many of their 5 star reviews are legit.
