Steph

Dr. Huberman was quite dismissive, condescending, impatient and rude. He never introduced himself, didn’t take time to explain what would happen during the extraction, and what to expect. When I asked him a question as he was preparing to apply the local anesthesia, he shushed me and told me to stop talking and said "I know what I’m doing". After he left, I told the assistant that I felt like I didn’t have enough information about what to expect and had more questions. I paid for a consultation but didn’t get a chance to ask questions and converse with the doctor about things. She replied rudely asking what else is there to know and that it’s a very simple thing. She quickly walked through post-op steps, which I was familiar about. I done some pre research and had a few quick questions about the procedure itself. Once the procedure started, I felt a ton of pressure which I expected, but I also felt pain. It felt like the numbing medicine hadn’t spread entirely yet. He got so frustrated with me within the first 30 seconds, sighing heavily and yanking the mouth guard out and sat there watching me with his arms folded while I cried. He and the medical assistant were extremely rude, cold, and unwelcoming. I asked for a few minutes to take a break and go to the restroom. Dr. Huberman never spoke to me or came to check on me when I came back into the room. I told the rude assistant that I would like to stop and go elsewhere and she said okay and walked out. Dr. Shah wasn’t available and I haven’t met him, but seems like people have good experiences with him. Before visiting this clinic, I’d encourage you to confirm which surgeon you’ll be working with. Now that I’ve seen some other negative reviews of patients who have worked with Dr. Huberman, I feel more validated in my experience. Overall I felt uncomfortable in their office and wanted to be somewhere with providers that felt trustworthy. Shame on him for his poor bedside manner. Maybe he was just having a bad day, since you would think someone of his age and experience would be kind to his patients.

Treatment is first rate and caring. The front desk team is efficient and friendly. Appointments have been on time each visit. Touch wood, no waiting yet. Dr. Shah has a great manner and will take the time to explain each stage of treatment. The equipment seems up to date. Nobody wants to go see the oral surgeon of course. But if you have to go, I couldn't think of a better provider.

I have come here to extract my wisdom tooth in the past. A simple procedure. But, this time I had infected gum, thank you to Dr. Shah for helping me with the agonizing pain. This practice really has the patients best interests at heart ! I almost made an irrational decision, based on pain. The staff were super helpful and trustful!

The team at South Slope Oral Surgery is incredible! From the moment I walked in, I felt at ease with the process. Dr. Shah explained the process very clearly and respectfully. Highly recommend!

This is an incredibly awful and scammy practice. My regular dentist referred me to this practice for a consultation about getting one wisdom tooth removed. I made the appointment and spent a lot of time with the receptionist figuring out whether the xrays from the dentist I see regularly would suffice for the consultation. I emailed them directly to this practice and they confirmed that the xrays would work. When I arrived for the appointment, the receptionist asked if I had xrays!? We already went through this? They went through this very dramatic dog and pony show of "oh, I don't know if this will work. We have to check with the dentist. You might have to get new xrays." After all the theatrics, the dentist looked at my xrays and said all 4 wisdom teeth had to come out. I pushed back and said I was only here for a consultation for removing one. He sorry sweethearted me in the most useless and condescending way. There was no oral examination, just a perusal of the xrays, a conversation that lasted less than 5 minutes, and $75 copay. Ridiculous. They also billed my insurance $800 for the courtesy of wasting my time.

I highly recommend the team at South Slope Oral Surgery and especially Dr. Shah. I needed an emergency procedure and Dr. Shah patiently talked me through my options, which included avoiding an unnecessary additional procedure. The follow up care has been equally stellar. I really appreciate the team for their compassion, care and understanding.

Dr. Shah is an exceptional doctor and a kind person. I encountered some issues with my insurance and scheduling, but he went above and beyond to accommodate me as quickly as possible. He even personally called me a few times to discuss everything. I needed two baby teeth and two impacted canines removed, and I was really nervous about the procedure but Dr. Shah was very thorough and made me feel completely comfortable and confident in his care. When the time comes for my wisdom teeth removal, I will definitely be returning to him.
