I have been going to Boulder Dental Center Foothills for over 2 years now. The front desk staff are knowledgeable and kind. It is important to me to find a dentist with good bedside manner that takes the time to explain what’s going on, why, and next steps. I have had a great experience with Dr. Rebber and all of the dental hygienists. As an added bonus, the view out of the treatment rooms is great!
If I could give this place 0 stars, I absolutely would. I went in for a cleaning about 2 weeks ago, where I recall being told that I would be returning to get one filling done on a chip I had on a molar. That appointment was this morning at 7. I arrived at 6:59, waited until 7 to give them time to get settled down, and proceeded to try to enter the building. The front door was locked until 7:02, during that time I called the front desk and knocked on the door multiple times. The outside temperature was 31 degrees. That was frustrating, but was absolutely infuriating was how Dr. John Feeley spoke to me. Nobody went over the plan of action with me before they started numbing my gums. He injected anesthesia into the gums around a second tooth that I was not expecting and left me for 15 minutes to allow the anesthesia to do its job. During that time, I began to cry as I felt overwhelmed and confused about why we were dealing with a cavity on a whole other tooth that I was not aware of. When he returned, I said that I’d like to see my chart and/or photos of this cavity, as nobody had mentioned it to me before and I was confused as to why. He proceeded to become extremely defensive and condescending, asking me if I got upset anytime I got my tires checked and there was a new issue. Also asked me a medical question that only a dentist would know the answer to, arguing with me that I had an "accusatory tone", and even tried to mansplain how cavities work (I’ve had 8 in my life and have several STEM degrees). He even raised his voice to talk over me when I tried to explain that I wasn’t accusing anyone of anything but rather was frustrated that there was no sort of communication around what was being done on my teeth. I told him that based on my own experience working in healthcare, baseline healthcare is communicating out loud to your patient what it is you’re going to be doing to/with them BEFORE it happens. That is lesson #1 when you go into the medical field. Or any other field that has you working with humans. He tried to then tell me that it was because they schedule two patients at the same time for one doctor and that’s why they’re rushing or impersonal or whatever. Girl, bye. Please take your dental work elsewhere. Still in shock that he raised his voice over my own. He eventually apologized, explaining that he had not understood that I was not made aware of the second filling, but truthfully, everything I said to him still stood. Honestly someone with that big and fragile of an ego should not be allowed to do dental work on anyone, or any other kind of hands-on work with people. Learn how to regulate your emotional reactions and treat your patients with kindness and respect. Literally was crying as he was doing my fillings. Horrifying experience.
Do NOT recommend. I rarely leave reviews, but felt compelled after my most recent experience. After my front tooth broke, the Arapahoe location placed a crooked crown and even ordered the wrong color twice. It took several visits over six months, and the final crown was still crooked. My gum later became inflamed, so I went to the Foothills location for a second opinion. Dr. Klausmeyer was incredible—he fixed the crown perfectly with no pain and it looks completely natural. More recently, I returned for tooth pain along with a swollen lymph node, hoping to see Dr. Klausmeyer, but was scheduled with Dr. Feely. When I made the appointment, the front desk told me I was due for a cleaning and could do that while I was there. A communication issue led the hygienist and Dr. Feely to think I was only there for a cleaning, and Dr. Feely was visibly irritated. He was short, rude, refused to answer my questions, and told me I had to choose between addressing my pain or getting a cleaning. I didn’t care much about the cleaning, but it wasn’t my mistake and I felt it was unfair for his anger to be directed at me. I was the last patient of the day and it was clear that he just wanted to go home. I was told I couldn’t switch dentists for the repairs needed, so I’m going elsewhere. After multiple chances, I’m done with this office and won’t be returning.
Unexpected Billing After Painful Treatment and Insurance Reversal I had a tooth filling done here that was unusually painful and never fully recovered, even after six months. The procedure required multiple rounds of anesthetic, the recovery took far longer than expected, and I was unable to chew normally on one side for months. Before proceeding, I explicitly confirmed that my insurance covered the service and was told it was qualified. Payment and coverage were a key factor in my decision to move forward. I also paid what I was told was the full amount at the time and was clearly informed that I should not expect any further bills. Six months later, the office suddenly contacted me claiming my insurance "did not cover" the procedure and that I now owe the full amount. It is unreasonable to retroactively declare a patient unqualified after the service has been completed, especially when coverage was confirmed beforehand and the procedure itself was entirely optional. Between the prolonged pain, incomplete recovery, and delayed surprise billing, this experience was deeply frustrating and eroded my trust. I would strongly advise future patients to get written confirmation of insurance coverage and total cost before agreeing to treatment.
Reviewing again for my daughter. Front office has no experience. Dentists and hygienists constantly turning over. This makes what should be a simple experience into a completely uncomfortable and confusing experience. I do NOT recommend.
My wife uses this dental office and she highly recommended it. After coming here I did understand why she recommended it so highly. I think the staff goes through some proper training of how to treat patients. Nobody looks forward to dental treatments but I was impressed with the courteous engagement as well as the professional way they treat patients. It is not only how they treat clients. The dental office has the most advanced equipment and treatment methodology. It all takes place in front of your eyes and the results are immediate and excellent results. My Dr. was Dominic Italia, a young Doctor but with great humility, empathy and technical skills. I highly recommend Boulder Dental Center Foothills.
0/5 stars. I strongly recommend avoiding any of the locations within Boulder Dental Center — Foothills, Canyon, Arapahoe, which are owned by Dr. Danny Abboud. I’ve seen Dr. John Feeley at Foothills several times, and every visit has led to new problems. I’ve had two fillings come out multiple times over the last four weeks, which he blamed on the practice’s material. Each time the enamel has been exposed and I’ve been unable to chew on my right side for weeks at a time, when they can finally get me into the office. I also had a small chip on my front tooth, which has been bonded twice — the first time he did a bond just on the bottom, which broke, and the second visit he suggested a crown, which is crazy for what was once a small chip. I asked him to bond the whole tooth instead, which he did, while making the tooth incredibly short compared to the other front tooth, and with a new chip in the middle. I spoke to the office manager to try and see someone else, as this has been 4-5 visits, but she said Dr. Danny Abboud would not take an appointment with me as it’s his policy for the patient to only see the dentist who did the previous work. This feels unfair, inflexible, and devoid of human decency, and I will not be returning — not only for the repeated failures of their work, but the complete lack of accountability across the board. Run, don’t walk, away from this practice.
