Golden 28 has a rating of 4.2 out of 5 based on over 293 reviews on Google
Overpriced and undercooked. Ordered the most basic meal and the veggies and chicken weren't fully cooked. They charge $3 to trade to upgrade fried rice instead of white and their sweet & sour sauce tasted like tomato sauce. For this meal X2 and a side of crab Rangoon was $49.
Golden 28 is a must-visit for authentic Vietnamese flavor and warm hospitality! We had a delicious spread mussels, chow mein noodles, fried rice, and egg rolls and everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The mussels were tender and well-seasoned, the chow mein had the perfect balance of texture and sauce, the fried rice was fragrant and satisfying, and the egg rolls were crispy with just the right crunch. Each dish was served hot and full of flavor. What made the experience even better was the sweet and kind person who served us they truly made us feel welcome and appreciated. The service was attentive, patient, and genuine, which made the meal even more enjoyable. The atmosphere is peaceful and cozy great for a casual lunch or dinner. Golden 28 is definitely one of Grand Rapids’ hidden gems for Vietnamese cuisine. Five stars all around! Will definitely be back.
My husband and I have been driving up from Kalamazoo for the past five years just to eat pho here. Every single visit—whether dining in or ordering takeout—has been a wonderful experience. The staff is always so pleasant, and the food is consistently authentic, flavorful, and absolutely amazing. It’s truly worth the drive every time.
I decided to cross Golden 28 off my list of Vietnamese restaurants to try, and I’m happy with the place. The waiter was friendly, and I was able to sit right down. The decor is quite basic, but the food was great. I had a Vietnamese coffee, which tasted very rich, and pho with chicken. The pho was very savory and herbal, and the flavor was just about perfect. If you’re in the mood for Vietnamese food, you can’t go wrong with this place.
Very clean restaurant! The staff is so kind. I asked my order not be made spicy and it was done perfectly. The dish I ordered does have peanuts without listing, but it was delicious. Simple flavors, not noticeable oily. One of the healthiest dishes I've had at a restaurant in a long time. There appear to be several vegetarian options, but I forgot to request no fish sauce. Luckily, it was given on the side. The portions are small for the price. The restaurant was quite empty when we went. With a few close-by competitors at much better portion per price, I can't help but wonder if that is why. I enjoyed it and for me, I eat small portions, so I didn't have to take leftovers. The water is not good.
My friends recommended this place, so I went there with my boyfriend a couple of weeks ago. We ordered mussels, pho, and Korean Jam pong. Food was amazing!!! Superb. Mussels are especially delicious. But the service was not very good. Our server never came to us for a refill or ask needs.
The Pho was absolutely incredible! You can taste every ingredient. They come together in perfect harmony. It truly is a masterpiece of a dish. The prices were fair for the amount. Most Pho places have larger portions, but the quality of the food made up for it. The restaurant itself was small but quaintly and cozy. The staff was friendly and the service quick. 10/10 would recommend and I will absolutely return.
