Jianbing is the most underrated breakfast food and it really deserves to go viral. It's surprisingly impossible to find, even in the Bay Area, and I'm grateful that K Tea has been a longtime staple. They make several varieties, including classic, chicken, an indulgent bulgogi version, a crispy fried soy chicken, and even a vegan version. Each jianbing is a pancake with the eggs cooked in, layered with crispy wontons, and garnished with green onions and sesame. K Tea makes it decently; I like how it makes a hearty brunch without being too heavy. It tastes homemade, simple, not too salty. I do wish there were more green onions and sesame. More sauce would probably cater to to general public's tastes for more flavor. They also serve a bunch of other snacks and drinks, including boba and fresh soy milk. Other notes: - It's best eaten right away, before the crispy wonton layers get soggy from the steam - There are 3 small chairs inside, but I don't think it's meant as a dine-in area - I suggest going to the benches across the street outside Philz (it actually pairs well with coffee) - Expect at least a ~5-10 minute wait, since it's made fresh to order - Utensils not included in the bag, be sure to grab if you need it - I think I only noticed forks and chopsticks; plastic knives would be helpful - Packaged in eco-friendly little paper boxes with a cute logo - Price (~$17 total) would be considered pricey in Asia but reasonable for the Bay, considering it's good quality and not easy to make at home (I mean we pay like $20+ for a plate of eggs/bacon/rainbow potatoes at brunch) - They have a loyalty rewards system!
Yes this is Katy's official review of KTea cafe ! Dark roasted oolong boba. Not just roasted but DARK. Its adding more of that smokey flavor we all love and its oh so satisfying. Does not get better than this. JianBings are humungous. Recipe is a bit different than what I remember from back home, but its still got the egg and the chili spread and the fantastic crisp in the middle. The classic is already great but you can add any meaty proteins. Other options too, like noods and rice bowls. But pretty happy with my power couple pick for the perfect oops-missed-lunch-and-now-I-got-me-some-cravings mid afternoon meal.
Food is good but hard to eat - too big to pick up and also too hard to cut with a plastic knife and fork. You order from a screen and someone makes it in the back. Average wait I’d say is 5-10 minutes. 2 tables in the cafe. No wifi provided and no boba for the tea. Most people just do pick up and go here. I had the classic one.
One of the best JianBing(煎餅果子). Actually the best 煎餅果子 I ever had. It uses 方酥 instead of Chinese churros (油條). Which is the decent way of making 煎餅果子. The crepe is very thin, the sauce is well balanced, along with the egg. I would definitely come by next time!
My wife and I ran into this place looking for a place to relax and grab a quick bite. This place is likely out new spot on the block. It has good tea, good food and a relaxing atmosphere. The staff was really friendly as well. We ordered veggie Jiaeing which we will definitely be coming back for. It's like an egg crepe sandwich, and very tasty. We'd highly recommend coming by to try it. We also ordered a bento box no meat which they were super accommodating about. They didn't have a tofu option but came by after asking if we wanted them to add tofu to it free of charge. We opted not to, but the fact that they asked was really considerate (it wasn't on their menu). We also got sweet potato fries. They were good albeit under seasoned (wasn't worth losing a star though as they were crispy and tasty, and the rest of the food was amazing) We also got two of the teas, tropical fruit and orange fruits. The staff was super considerate, explaining how they sweeten and giving good comparisons to be sure the tea was sweetened to our liking. Overall, our experience was great. Definitely coming back here again over the next few weeks.
I stopped by in Sunnyvale to grab a quick bite and decided to come to K Tea Cafe. I'm so glad I did! This was the first time I tried Jianbing and instantly fell in love with it. I ordered it with bulgogi beef and it was packed with delicious flavors and unique textures. The wrapping is similar to a crepe while the fried wonton added a crunch as you took a bite. For $10 this was also very filling!
Jian bing was pretty good. Wish they had the more crispier version like in china.
