Niwano Hana

Our party of four visited Niwano Hana recently for dinner. Overall, the food was the highlight of our evening. We ordered the bento boxes, California rolls, and the Lava roll, all of which were fresh and flavorful. The drinks were also well-prepared; the plum wine was a treat but the portions could have been more in size compared to price. We found the restaurant to be quite congested. Our table for four felt a bit small for the number of dishes we ordered, making the dining space feel cramped. We truly enjoyed the flavors of the meal and the quality of the sushi, but a bit more attention to service pacing and seating layout would have made it a five-star experience. We’d love to come back if the dining environment felt a bit more relaxed!

Perfect place for a great deal of healthy food with great taste and reasonable price! We had two bento boxes $21.25 and $21.75, respectively, the two most expensive ones on the list. Every table is provided with a small but free salad and an miso soup. Served quickly.

Had the Pink Lady and Blue fin special. Very good nice flavor contrasts. Miso soup was a pleasant and simple. Service was good and timely. Ginger and wasabi were very weak, would pass on those. Pink lady; flavorful and filling. Nice contrast between cheese and tempura textures as well as the flavor of the cheese and jalapeno on the fish. The sauces on top of the roll balanced out the intensity of the cheese with sweetness. Tempura batter was of the heavier side like a corn puff. Small amount of soy sauce was a nice complement. Blue fin special; nice acidic notes to offset the avocado. Cool and refreshing but with a good body and weight to it that was had nice contrast with the freshness of the tuna. Preferred without soy sauce.

Fish quality was off. I got the yellowtail maki and chirashi bowl. It’s not often I don’t eat fish because of the taste but I just felt the freshness of the quality was off. Possibly because it was after the snowstorm so maybe that affected delivery. Either way. Would probably not come back based on taste. Soup and salad was also very small portions.

I have been coming to Niwano Hana since 2018, and I can confidently say that their service and quality have remained consistently excellent over the years. The Spicy Scallop Roll and the Spicy Baked Mussel are especially outstanding — always fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Even after seven years, the high standards of both their food and hospitality have never wavered. It’s truly a place you can always rely on for a wonderful dining experience.
