Blue Atlas Restaurant and Market

Blue Atlas is a standout spot in Richmond. It’s located in an old schoolhouse overlooking the city, with a beautiful and modern interior. The food is superb, with a changing seasonal menu and farm-to-table approach. Dishes are shareable. I recommend 2 dishes per person. My friends and I shared the mezze platter and butternut squash with sunchokes. I also ordered the carne Asada for myself (tender meat, perfectly cooked, with a silky cauliflower puree and smoky chili sauce on top) and my friends ordered the bao buns. The food was inventive, layered with flavor, and plated beautifully. I haven’t had food this good in a while. Definitely out of the ordinary. I also appreciated the wide variety of gluten-free and celiac-safe options! My friend who is vegan also had a lot of choices. I highly recommend Blue Atlas for a nice dinner with friends or a celebratory evening. I will be back!

Also celebrated my first anniversary with my boyfriend here. This was our second time coming here, the first was Valentines Day and we instantly fell in love. Had to come back for the harissa cauliflower. The service was amazing, they upgraded us to a table, and all the servers were so wonderful. I could write essays about how good the food was but honestly nothing will beat tasting it yourself. Can’t wait to go again!

Lovely little breakfast market. Sweet potato sage latte, breakfast sliders and a view of the city. The pastries looked amazing and my partner loved the breakfast burrito. The outdoor space looks nice and we have to come back!

My husband, Justin, and I hosted our wedding welcome dinner here last November, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From start to finish, Rachel and Abby went above and beyond to make the evening so special, helping us curate everything from the appetizers, dinner, and dessert menu to crafting custom cocktails (named after our dogs!!!) and thoughtfully arranging the space. Their team was an absolute joy to work with—so professional, accommodating, and genuinely invested in making our night perfect. Our friends and family are still raving about the incredible food, space, and service. It was the perfect way to kick off our wedding weekend, and I can't recommend them highly enough!

Delicious! Also makes for a great study spot. There is seating both outdoors, under a patio, and indoors, with plenty for both. Their food was fantastic. Coffee is from Blanchards and also great.

Living just nearby at Artisan Hill Apartments, we decided to sneak away for a much-needed date night while grandma watched our baby girl. This spot exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with cozy yet stylish décor that set the perfect mood for the evening. We timed it perfectly for sunset, and the view was nothing short of stunning—an added bonus to the experience. But what really made the night special was the incredible service. Derek, the bartender, and Katie, our waitress, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Derek, a fellow New Yorker, sparked up great conversations that added an extra layer of comfort to the evening. Katie’s attention to detail and personable nature made us feel like we were regulars, even though it was our first time. We ordered three drinks and two appetizers, and everything was absolutely delicious. The drinks, which I’ve attached pictures of, were perfectly crafted—each one a work of art. Unfortunately, the food was so good that we dove in before even thinking to snap a photo. Every bite was memorable. If you’re in the Richmond area, especially if you live in or near Artisan Hill, Blue Atlas is a must-visit. Whether you’re looking for an intimate date night or just a place to unwind, this spot hits the mark. We’re giving it 4.99999 stars, only because, as they say, there’s always room for improvement—but honestly, it’s hard to find any fault here. We’ll definitely be back.
