This was my first time visiting HK Cafe to try their dim sum, and from the moment we walked in, the place was packed with people and full of energy. The atmosphere felt very lively and family-style, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The dim sum was very good, with a wide variety to choose from, and the quality was better than most places I’ve tried. The servers were attentive and kept things moving smoothly despite how busy it was. Overall, it was a great first experience, and I’ll definitely be back to try more next time.

HK Cafe always hit the spot for my authentic cart dim sum craving! Definitely come early on the weekends because they get SUPER busy! (They open at 9:30am) The restaurant is typical banquet style open space with lots of different table arrangements. Most iconic is the round tables with the lazy susan for family style dining. They also do have 2-person and other rectangle table options as well. During peak dim sum hour, the carts are rolling through consistently and although the aunties might not be overly friendly, they are fast and efficient with your orders. I didn't take a picture of all the things we are because I was too busy chowing down but almost everything we tried was delicious! You got your classics like the egg tart, chicken feet, steamed ribs, shrimp dumplings, chicken sticky rice, steamed rice cakes, sesame balls, bbq pork buns (steamed or baked), gai lan with oyster sauce, and lots of other yummy things to try! I wasn't overly impressed with their XLB (soup dumplings) no wonder they didn't give you soup spoons for these because there was basically no soup inside! Also we got the steamed custard buns for the fun designs for the kids. But upon closer look, there was a spicy design on one of them (I censored it in my photo but you can use your imagination) so HK Cafe just FYI on that! This is the place for fresh dim sum! Take your friends and family here for the full cart experience!

That dim sum here is very consistent and above average and certain items are great! Today the beef tripe was very good, soft and tender very flavorful however, for such a small portion is very very expensive . The egg custard buns now have a cartoon on them, which obviously the kids love, but they’re putting on the small side . The bamboo shoot wraps are a little overcooked, but still tasty The chicken feet was on point by little small . The other items were at least average to grain and the selection keeps expanding as I saw a few new items. I chose not to try but keep in mind for next time. The service is OK sometimes a mess today was average to above average. This is one of few places on the east side for dim sum but convenient crowded but not packed if you get there early .

Had dinner here with two of my coworkers and it did not disappoint. I was so happy to eat HK-style food again! It’s been a struggle of mine finding places that remind me of home, so I’m glad that places like this on 82nd exist. Everything we had was enjoyable, but I have to say the ribs were the best part of the meal! They’re open on major holidays and serve dim sum all day.

Had an amazing meal at HK Café! Everything we ordered was delicious — the chow fun had that perfect smoky wok flavor, the pepper shrimp was super crispy, and the beef stir-fry was full of flavor. The Szechuan fish was spicy and rich without being overwhelming. We also loved the Shanghai-style dumplings and the tofu clay pot — both comforting and so well made. The place gets busy, but the service is fast and friendly. It’s great for family-style meals or big groups, and the portions are huge. Definitely one of the best spots in Portland for authentic Chinese food — can’t wait to go back!

We had such a tasty meal here. I really like the steamed buns, tangy sauce eggplant, and the beef! The tofu clay pot is also very yummy.
