Parakeet Café at Crystal Cove is one of those spots I genuinely wish I could come to every single day. The Green Goddess salad is a standout, loaded with crisp lettuce, a beautiful half avocado, and a generous portion of herb roasted chicken that feels like a solid five ounces and actually keeps you full. The flavors are bright and clean, you can tell they are intentional about being organic and seed oil free, and it all feels both healthy and satisfying rather than "diet food." The Caesar salad is another favorite and their turmeric lemon vinaigrette is spot on, tangy and refreshing without being heavy. We also ordered the teriyaki chicken bowl which was another win. The combination of arugula over a bed of brown rice with marinated broccoli and chicken hits that sweet spot between comfort and healthy. It is the kind of bowl you could eat on repeat and not get bored, especially with their unique flavor profiles and locally sourced ingredients. This is also a very kid friendly place which makes it even more appealing for regular family visits. Where I land at more of a 4.5 than a full 5 is the overall experience, not the food. The interior vibe is really fun and very on brand for Crystal Cove, but the space feels tight and it is tricky to find seating, especially outside which is really where you want to be in this area. There are often lines out the door and it is not the easiest spot for larger groups. I also wish they offered a true light roast option on the coffee menu. While I appreciate that they use organic milk, I would love more variety on the coffee side. The pastries are solid, about a four star for me, good but not why I come here. I come here for the food, which is excellent.
Located in a beautiful shopping center with ocean views. Food is nothing to be wowed by. They serve healthy portions. Their coffee drinks however are pretty good. They have friendly staff. You order at the register they then bring the food out to your table. Outside tables are limited.
Was in town from Detroit and came across this wonderful cafe. Had a wonderful brunch experience that both my wife and me enjoyed. The workers were very nice, friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. We had the chilaquiles, and acai bowl, along with tasty drinks of turmeric latte and protien smoothie. We cant wait to visit again!
This place and its workers made my day. I was supposed to meet my best friend to have a mini celebration of my birthday because I don’t really enjoy celebrations. But be could not make it so I was alone. When I requested a birthday candle, the staff found out that it was my birthday and came to me all together to sing a Happy Birthday. It was a long and harsh day but this place made a big difference. They are very nice and have an amazing food so I recommend to try it to everyone! Thank you once again for everything you have done.
Amazing experience!! Highly recommend the smoked salmon and egg toast(add an extra egg). Great choices if you have food sensitivities and allergies. The middle shelf of pastries is all gluten free. The staff is amazing and attentive.
This message is specifically for the manager. Please treat your employees better. We were group of 4 today decided to have brunch after our hike . The line was too long . 35 min wait to get food and 40 min to get coffee which unfortunately prepared on paper cup. We had to wait another 15 min to be served in a mug/ceramic cup. As we noticed , the employees were trying so hard to manage and provide possibly pleasant service but you could see high frustration in their face. Please hire minimum 2 more workers on the weekends . Weekdays usually is fine and manageable. The quality of food is great if served fast enough to stay warm and tasteful.
We ordered from DoorDash. The croissant sandwich had a piece of what seems butter wrapper mixed in with the eggs!! I bit into the sandwich and it was mixed in with the sandwich. For a place to be expensive and in Newport Beach I would never expect this.
