Customer Reviews
Aster Cafe has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 based on over 2279 reviews on Google
Visiting the cities for the first time, im glad I picked this place over some other options. The charcuterie board was ample and appropriate to accompany the unique drink menu. The mains were fine, but it was the cocktails and atmosphere that make for a memorable evening.
We are here before the Paul McCartney concert n a Friday night. We had the mushroom flatbread, a bottle of wine and the barbecue pork sliders. Sliders were great. The flatbread was basically a pizza. It was just okay. It was a beautiful fall day and we sat outside. WARNING - there were hornets everywhere and I got stung badly as I went to pick up our wine bottle and put a refill and did not realize a hornet was sitting on the bottle. Ouch!! Not a place to go if you are allergic to bees!
My favorite patio 🫶🏼 I returned the MSP after 8 years for a wedding and just had to have lunch here. The views of the cities, right on the Mississippi River, and delicious bites keep me coming back. We put our name down, it was about a 15 min wait at about 1pm. Just enough time to snap a picture on the Stone Arch Bridge and walk back to be seated. Everything in the menu is fresh and bright. Not as heavy as most mid-west food can be. We loved the quiche, pizza, and pear and beet salad. Dog friendly patio, so bring your fur babies for lunch! Also live music sometimes! This is a special spot and I’m so glad to see it still thriving.
Food was great, wobbly tables on the patio where annoying, service was slow, wasn't offered a free refill, and the hostess that sat us didn't give us menus as we watched her seat other people and give them menus so my wife had to get up and get me her and my mother a menu while we were there with our special needs toddler. Definitely no complaints about the yummy food though. It took forever to get our bill and it took a long time just to get some water. We wanted to sit inside but they said it would be a $6 cover charge for each of us including our special needs disabled child because there was a live band playing inside. When I looked inside there were literally two people sitting up at the bar and then one person eventually sitting at the bar and nobody actually sitting inside to eat.
Came here for NYE, there was live music for the duration of our meal. Our server was wonderful and attentive! There were fun NYE cocktails and menu options too. I will note that the restaurant was dimly lit this evening, I have not been here before so I’m not sure if they usually keep it this dark. If you have difficulty reading menus in low light, know that you may want to schedule an earlier reservation to utilize the natural light.
The ambiance is so cozy and warm, I loved every aspect of Aster from walking in. We weren’t looking for a full meal so we shared the spinach artichoke dip. It was delicious! I also got the Bahama baby cocktail which I liked. It was sweet and strong. It’s a great vibe and I’d love to come back and try more things
What a beautiful patio experience in the heart of Minneapolis! Every place on St Anthony Main was closed on Saturday early afternoon except for Aster Cafe. They have a beautiful and spacious patio which enticed us to come in and have a light hors d'oeuvre. Their menu was perfect for our purpose. A good collection of shareable appetizers and sandwiches if you wanted a bit more than that. We shared a spinach and artichoke dip and ordered cocktails and scotch lol The bread that came with the spinach and artichoke dip was very good-- a light crunch on the crust and airy and bouncy inside. I had the Bahama Baby which tasted very tropical indeed and my bf had a couple of their margaritas. We also had a couple drams of Highland Park 12 which was reasonably priced at $14 only. We saw the hummus trio pass by and would definitely order that next time, as well. The servers were very pleasant. Overall, very highly recommended.
