Ooyoo Cafe

Ktown may be full of bingsu places, but this cafe really meets all expectations. There's free parking, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating (bonus patio shared with another cafe!), the shaved ice is perfectly fluffy and icy, and the menu has a host of other sweet options like taiyaki and hotteok. The bingsu is also packed with fruit on top and inside. Portions were great for sharing! The injeolmi flavor had these really crispy/toasty almonds that I liked, which went really well with the mochi and ice.

Really charming patio seating, the best taiyakis, and hodduk. The taiyakis are 5/$10 which is a great price for a cafe. The custard and red bean are our favs. They’re are lightly crispy outside and chewy inside like they’re made of mochi. Great place to hang out! And parking is free.

For the longest time, I always thought that Oakobing was the go-to place when it comes to finding good Bingsu (Korean shaved ice dessert) in KTown, but there certainly was a paradigm shift after trying this place out! Ooyoo is a solid contender for the spot of best bingsu purveyor in KTown, the place is a bit difficult to find but well worth it once you manage to get to it. The seating itself is such a nice touch. There are big booth-like, semi round couches outside with what looks like a fireplace in the middle, so perfect for large groups. My favorite was the strawberry bingsu, but the other two flavors that we tried were very (injeolmi and black sesame) were also highly recommended. They also sell Ah-Boong, a fish-shaped waffle cone filled with your choice of filling. We went with the red bean paste, and it was great. Parking isn't too difficult in the area either.

Get. The. Hotteok. Don't think about it, just order it!! Came for the bingsoo, stayed for the hotteok. Both were good- I wish they told you all the red bean and condensed milk is hidden in the bottom of the bowl. Initially I thought it was just a really plain shaved ice until I got to the good stuff at the bottom! I also wish you could get injeolmi as an add-on to any bingsoo. But seriously, that hotteok may just be the most delicious hotteok I have ever eaten- and I literally grew up with my grandma making me hotteok so that's saying a lot!!

Great kind of hidden spot on the second floor of the building. The outdoor patio was really spacious and comfortable (open seating). The taiyaki were served hot and fresh. Very cute, was not too crowded on a Friday evening!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!! Discovered this gem from Koreatown's ig and came running! I've had plenty of boong-uh-bbangs (the fish shaped waffle with gooshy sweetness inside). The bread is so mochi like and it's so crispy and HOT! Like whatever you imagine your dream boing-uh-bbang to be like, this is IT. The red bean & custard are 10 out of 10. GET THE CRISPY BUTTER SAUSAGE TOAST 11 out of 10 Very clean establishment esp restroom ‍, park in their lot or in the KFC lot (shared with this building)

Solid desserts here. Love the injeolmi bingsu. And red bean tayaki. Love that they use real red beans and not the paste. Relaxing dining set up.
