Toba Sushi and Grill

The sushi is OK, but not great. We ordered a spicy tuna roll with avocado, and it was too big and very sloppy with too much rice, which made it hard to eat and taste the tuna. The regular tuna roll and salmon nigiri were good. The dumpling appetizer was served cold and pretty flavorless. It seems like it was heated from frozen and not heated all the way through. Service is good, and it’s a clean, modern atmosphere with cool decor.

Food was fresh and tasty. Flavors are in the ballpark of authentic. Portions are large. Service was acceptable but not exceptional. Wouldn’t be a top choice in a bigger city but for Kalamazoo, definitely one of the better options. I’ll still give it five stars.

This toba on drake road is the best sushi around. My husband and I love treating ourselves to this restaurant. I could honestly eat this everyday. We get the IL Mare burrito. Mouth watering. We ordered 2 burritos and one basic roll. I believe it was the California roll. My pictures aren't very good bc my phone quality is bad but it is the best sushi place around in my opinion.

I had such a great experience at Toba Sushi! We were waited on by Taylor and Anthony, who worked together as an amazing team — super attentive and friendly. The food was fantastic — the fish was incredibly fresh and the rolls were huge, so be careful not to overorder (though everything is worth trying!). I had the Rainbow Roll and the 911 Roll — the 911 was really spicy but delicious. The gyozas were amazing, and the seaweed salad (both the regular and the spicy version) was excellent — the spicy one isn’t too spicy, just flavorful. Overall, fresh food, great service, and generous portions. Highly recommend this place! I’m visiting from Florida, where we already have great sushi, so trust me when I say this spot is impressive. The best service and the best food! Our waiter, Declan, was amazing—he’s the reason we love going out to eat. good vibes all the way around and we will definitely be coming back! The restaurant was very baby-friendly, and the food was absolutely incredible. Highly recommend!

The Edamame is hands down the golden child here! The Korean Root Tea always reminds me of my birthplace and their freshly hand rolled sushi is a must and will definitely fill you up! Make sure to mix in a bit of wasabi with your soy and enjoy!

Cool atmosphere inside! We loved everything we ate and presentation was beautiful. Sushi prepared very quickly; did not have to wait a long time for service. ***warning*** 911 roll pictured is very VERY spicy (but delicious).
