Hop Sing Palace

#ShelbyDaPooch (service animal) and I visited here for the first time. We were seated right away in a Cozy booth. Shortly a pot of tea and a chavei were delivered. The tea was good. The nice older man than came by to take our order and to deliver our dinnerware. We ordered an order of egg rolls and beef egg foo young. After a short wait the egg rolls arrived. Steamy hot with a delicious dipping sauce. As I partook in the egg rolls #ShelbyDaPooch awaited patiently. Soon after a huge plate of white rice and beef egg foo young were delivered. A beautiful display of culinary delight. There was plenty of food (for Shelby and I), so I ended up with a dinner for tomorrow as well. I have to say that it was the best Chinese food I've had since I've been here (we are from Portland). We will definitely be back. Yes, the food was that good. #ShelbyDaPooch and I give it 2 🐾 and 2 👍👍 up !!!!!!

The owner is such a great guy! Very attentive to guests and is very polite. The food is absolutely wonderful and very much worth the trip and wait. I absolutely love the decor and style of the restaurant! The food is also 99% gluten free!!!

Incredibly friendly, attentive service. Very well decorated. Dim. Large servings--lacked flavor. Better to order dishes with ginger, garlic, herbs. (Monday 2:00 PM seating)

A little hidden gem in Old Folsom. Probably one of the oldest standing Chinese restaurants in Folsom. Originally owned by Lisa Ling’s family. If ever craving Chinese food, come give this place a try. It is authentic Chinese food still owned by family and only family serving you. Prices have not raised in years, I honestly think that they should be raised. Prices are so affordable being in Folsom. Lunch combos are $12.95 -3 items and a soup!!! What a freaking deal!!! There is a banquet room in the back, perfect for reservations. Very cozy with a dim lit ambiance. Each little room in the back has its own theme. It’s is a 60’s Chinese era vibe. Very cute. The carpet is actually very clean, thick and cushioned walking through. Their egg rolls are in my opinion, so good. They are ginormous, really crispy, with not the traditional egg roll wrap. A must try, due to its their own spin on egg roll originality.

We barely had time to settle in before our drinks were on the table and our orders were being taken with genuine kindness and attention. The staff was thoughtful and accommodating, and when we mentioned we had someone with an egg allergy, they didn’t miss a beat. They happily prepared the fried rice without egg, which was a small detail that made a huge difference for us. Now, the food - oh my goodness, the food. I’ve had American-Chinese cuisine in plenty of places, but Hop Sing Palace delivers something truly extraordinary. Every dish was bursting with flavor, perfectly balanced, and not too heavy or greasy like you sometimes find elsewhere. The portions were generous, and every bite felt like a celebration of fresh ingredients and authentic preparation. I found myself wishing I could try everything on the menu - and trust me, I’ll be back to give it a go. But the experience didn’t end with the meal. Even the little details stood out - like the quirky and fascinating wallpaper in the bathroom, which added a playful, vintage charm to the space. It’s those kinds of touches that show just how much personality and care has gone into creating this place. When we finally left, we were completely content and wonderfully well-fed, already talking about our next visit. Hop Sing Palace isn’t just a restaurant - it’s an experience, a slice of history wrapped in incredible flavors and heartfelt hospitality. Nothing negative about this place. The busy events in the Old Downtown Folsom sometimes make parking a little difficult but it is always worth it. The dishes are generous and super delicious. The servers are always spot on. The decor makes you feel like you're in an old time bistro or tearoom. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

The food was awesome and hot coming out. The staff and service were very nice. They gave you a fortune cookie after you eat. The atmosphere was super quiet. The paintings are beautiful, which makes me calm.
