Customer Reviews
Dough Zone Dumpling House has a rating of 4 out of 5 based on over 156 reviews on Google
My wife and I stopped at Dough Zone in Federal Way for dinner for the first time after hearing good things about it, and we were really impressed. When we arrived the dining room was about one third full, and by the time we finished our meal every table was taken. We were seated quickly and handed a small order sheet. At first the process was a little unclear, but once we scanned the QR code on the table and pulled up the full digital menu everything made sense. The online menu is one of the best we have seen, bright and clean with clear photos and detailed descriptions that actually help you decide what to order. We chose Green Onion Pancake, Dan Dan Noodles, Beef Pancake Roll, Yibin Noodles, and Beef Steamed Dumplings. Every dish came out fresh and hot as soon as it was ready, and each had its own distinct flavor rather than tasting the same. The dumplings were juicy, the noodles were perfectly textured, and the pancakes were crisp on the outside and tender inside. For dessert we shared the Pumpkin Dumplings with whipped cream, which were light, slightly sweet, and a really pleasant way to end the meal. The restaurant itself feels clean, modern, and inviting with an elegant Asian inspired look, and the soft background music kept the atmosphere calm even when the place got busy. Overall Dough Zone is a great addition to Federal Way dining with excellent food, reasonable prices, and a fun ordering system once you understand it. We are looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu.
Everything outstanding. The dumplings and kale salad especially. Fast efficient service. Prices are pretty reasonable. Everything very fresh. We had lunch. Tea was good.
We just love Dough Zone and typically order a variety of dumplings and eat family style. Friendly service, great dumplings, at a reasonable price point. We prefer to eat in as delivery has never been a positive experience and dining in never disappoints! Sign up for the loyalty program on the website - staff don't mention it but it's easy to sign up.
We are visiting from out of town wish we had a place like this in the suburbs of Chicago! Super clean and bright. Service was very attentive. We enjoyed all the food. The noodles were yummy. Good amount of spice with the sauce. The scallion pancakes were crisp and made fresh. They actually took the longest to come out, but they were worth the wait. Soup dumplings were yummy. Thin skin with good amount of soup in each. I couldn’t really tell the difference between the pork and chicken. The pork wontons were also yummy with the chili oil. Again, nice tingly spice on my tongue, but not over whelming. I thought the cucumbers were a good crunch with all the steamy food we got.
I'm happy to see a generally good rating on this restaurant and am perplexed by the 1 stars. Reading some of those reviews just do not make sense because I have never received anything other than great food and satisfactory service. I marked that I spend $20-30 per person but that's just because I eat way too many Xiao Long Bao because I love them so much. A normal meal will likely be $15-$20 per person if you eat normal servings lol. The dumplings are fantastic, the dan dan noodles are great. The pot stickers are average but the garlic dipping sauce is A+ and completes the dish. This isn't a place for Michelin star atmosphere and service. This is a place for people who want decent food at a good value where you can get your food relatively quickly. Since they opened over a year ago I've stopped here many times for lunch and dinner and if you want a dumpling house that won't break the bank while also remaining decent quality, this is your stop.
When you need your dim sum fix, this is a pretty good spot. Pan fried pork bun (four mini bao per platter), pork and/or chicken soup dumplings and won ton with chili sauce are definitely MUST ORDER items on your visit. Sweet n sour cucumber is a delightful starter, but I’d SKIP the steamed broccoli as the accompanying seafood sauce neither matches the dish, nor is it appealing. Ordered the cold noodle (ooh that sauce!) and DanDan noodles (yum, that addictive chili numbing "burn") where both were springy and chewy and enjoyable. Curious if ALL their noodle dishes are as flavorful? All in all a pleasant dining experience however I can’t help wondering if these small plates are really worth the hype - or price?
This is a nice little spot with a huge reputation that I don't understand when compared to their equally famous competition. I'll be honest I was kind of disappointed in some items as they were lacking the punch of flavour we were expecting. The soup dumplings are excellent. The dough is thin like paper so they're not a ball of soggy mushiness inside and they have a deeply savory flavour. The pan fried beef buns are also good as both the filling and the bun are very tasty however the steamed dumplings, hightail shrimp dumplings and potstockers are bland. The Dan Dan noodles were very underdone and the sweet and spicy pickles could use some salt and a bit longer to marinate. We would still come back for more soup dumplings and pan fried beef buns. The customer service here is excellent as they're very attentive and there's always someone available on the floor to help customers. The tables are also very close together, I almost wiped items off the table next to me while getting up and trying to slide on by.
