This place is really cool! Get to go on USS Massachusetts which is bulk of time spent here, however the markings for these four self guided tours can definitely be improved. It's very difficult to identify which direction to be going. Be prepared for many stairs (some are more like ladders). The Lionfish submarine and Joseph P Kennedy Jr are much smaller and maps aren't needed.
We stayed here several times with Cub Scout troops for an overnight visit to this historic site. Everybody slept on the battleship in the sailor's bunkbeds. We explored the battleship, the destroyer, and submarine with the scouts. Battleship Cove has the WWII battleship USS Massachusetts, the WWII submarine Lionfish, the Vietnam-era destroyer USS Joseph P. Kennedy Jr., and several PT boats. The battleship is very impressive for size and weight and big guns. The submarine is impressive for how cramped it is inside.
Visited today with my gf and Dad. Haven't been in 20+years. What an amazing tour. Spent several hours on the USS Massachusetts and the USS John P Kennedy. So much history you could spend 2+ days here. We ran into a staff member in the JPK. Larry, he was an amazing, insightfulakf knowledgeable staff member. He is a credit to the staff and this historic memorial.
So much to see in one day. We could have spent even longer here. One of the few places actually worth the admission price. My kids liked seeing the details on the ships, the old fashioned dials and gauges. It was refreshing not to be surrounded by new technology.
Excellent experience to see the inside of the many different ships and the history that goes with them. Your allowed to go thru all parts of ships self tour. Definitely worth the price of admission, and check with your local library for passes that provide reduced admission it was only $3 with ones we received and veterans and seniors receive discount. A must see highly recommend!!!
An amazing and interactive destination to visit. There are multiple World War II era battleships and submarines you can explore fully. The history and contents of the ships is quite stunning. The views while on the USS Massachusetts are especially nice with the bridge and Taunton River. I highly recommend visiting!
Awesome experience! You can visit inside the two ships and the submarine. They have a lot of different exhibitions with explanations about the ships and all the history behind them. You can go through all the different floors through stairs and hallways. The parking is free and they have a small shop for food and drinks. Definitely worth the visit. It’s great for kids and adults that have no health issues, because there is a lot of stairs and a lot of metal doors with high levels to pass through.
