MaMa YaTai and Donut is a unique and cool donut shop in Davie. My cousin and I wanted to try mochi donuts and saw great reviews about MaMa YaTai on Yelp. When you walk in the café is decorated like a Japanese city with Asian decor plus lanterns and stuffed animals. When we walked in, it was quite of a line, but it moved quick. As you’re going through the line, you’re able to see all the different donut flavors that are offered. My favorite donut was the apple pie flavor, it was the perfect blend of sweetness with the right amount of cinnamon apple pie filling on top. My cousin got the Japanese corn dog, which she absolutely loved, it was huge filled with a lot of cheese. Needless to say, I cannot wait to come back to try more of their donut flavors and other Asian snacks that are offered.
My daughter's love the cheese dog on a stick with hot cheetos. The location similar to MaMa YaTai was located in the Sawgrass Mills mall, it randomly shut down. This place has bigger cheese stuffed on a stick! The location of this place sucks with parking and it seems to get lots of traffic coming through the bakery. It's just located in a tight space with other shops and eatery.
My mom brought these from FL, since I love mochi donuts and each time I visit, I never get to stop by. To start off, the maple and bacon was pretty good. It was a little too sweet for my liking, but I do love bacon, so I enjoyed it. The matcha was one of my least favorites. I do love matcha, but wasn’t a fan of the almond slices. I think it would’ve been better without. I really enjoyed the Oreo, since that’s a flavor I love, so nothing wrong with that. The chocolate was also not a favorite of mine, but that’s because chocolate donuts are my last choice in flavor. The cherry blossom one was pretty yummy and the rice paper flowers were fun to eat. And I do enjoy a strawberry flavored mochi donut, so this was one of the ones I liked. Overall, a pretty good group of mochi donuts. It was still chewy, but a little more dense than I like, but that could be due to the fact that they travelled from FL to TX.
The corn dogs were delicious, we tried almost all of them and they were really good. The donuts were okay overall, but we ordered one with flan on top and unfortunately the flan was spoiled. It tasted sour, and we had to throw it away. We went around 8:00 p.m., and although the place closes at 9:00 p.m., I would recommend being more careful with donuts that need refrigeration, especially those with flan, since it seemed to be left out
Dangerously good. Chicken Katsu sandwich is an absolute banger, and the donuts are also just too good. Lots of very interesting flavors and combinations, beautiful presentation, and convenient self serve - so you can take your time and figure out what you want.
A real treat! We walked in, received great service, and enjoyed our afternoon snacks listening to good music. We had the iced coffees, Twix donut, and the ube tres leches. The Ube tres leches definitely stole the show. The iced coffee was also sweet with the best ice (iykyk)! We will be back for their savory options sometime soon.
I've never had a mochi doughnut before. My boyfriend brought me here, and what a fun place! I loooooved the different anime characters on the wall. Service was awesome - they were sweet and very helpful in my choosing. We ended up not finishing a lot of what we ordered due to a time crunch, but did try a bite of each one. The Garlic Cream Cheese Bread was the least liked. The Ube Tres Leches was unique and delicious.
