The food was good. I like to rate out of 10. So out of 10 I would give it a 7.2. We were a party of 6 and got the chicken teriyaki, scallops, beef tepanyaki. We also got one dragon roll and a couple Sapporo's. It was good, nothing great. It will probably be a while before I go back. Waiter was really nice, chef was okay. Not much enthusiasm.

I am rewriting my review from several years ago because I need to remove some stars. I still think they have the best Japanese food in town, but they have allowed the restaurant to become so rundown. The men's restroom looks like a filthy gas station restroom! There's graffiti on the walls and mirror and the ceiling is in disrepair. They should be ashamed of themselves for letting it get that this way! (See attached pictures). I used to proudly take my out-of-town guests here, but now I'm embarrassed to bring them.

This review is from last year: Just had the WORST experience of my life at japanese Kitchen and l eat here every year. We were seated fairly quickly, but I noticed they only had one server serving hella people at 6 tables. So I want to make it clear that this review is in no way to my server who did her best during a busy dinner service. However because it was super busy we were given zero utensils, plates barely came as he was cooking still wet from the washer. This review is solely based on the cook and management. Our cook came and started with the meal, the rice was super hard, everything else came out mid. Once the cook was done cooking things got even worse, people with cash on hand tipped the cook, we aren't people who carry cash so we always leave a large tip at the end. Well as our cook left, he thought it would be funny to sing "non tippers" as he walked away behind our backs. After realizing how patient I was during that entire horrible uncomfortable dinner service, it ultimately upset me. I immediately asked for the check, paid, STILL TIPPED mind you, and then made a complaint to the manager on the way out, she absolutely did not care. When it comes down to it, I won't be back to Japanese kitchen ever again. The whole restaurant needs a make over, the chairs are soooo uncomfortable and have zero padding left on them, they are sticky and dirty , the hibachi grills are filthy, the table was dirty, and dinnerware are never that clean, and the food is a hit or miss, never consistent. The restrooms are disgusting. They understaff and overwork their servers; and hire rude cooks. I've overlooked most of this because of nostalgia for the restaurant, but the cook tonight ruined it for me forever. Will not be back. If you want have a nice Teppenyaki dinner, go anywhere else.

Love this place! Better then other places we have tried. They cook on the table. Chef is funny. Food is excellent. I have eaten scallops at hells kitchen and it was horrible. This place knows how to cook scallops!. Service is good, food is excellent, its clean. Staff is attentive. Reservations i would suggest as they are always busy.

The food is good, But portions are small. They give you more rice and vegetables than meat. The chef wasnt friendly. He seemed like he hated his job and didnt wanna be there. Very dissapointing. I was hoping for more from this place. The only thing that saves this place is their chilli sauce 🔥 other else than that i dont think ill be back here. Maybe ill try the location in Visalia. Heard they are alot better.

We used to come here for sushi whenever we are in town. They used to make them the traditional way with seaweed wrap. So my boyfriend and I ordered 4 sushi rolls and our first roll came out and we thought it was just that roll that had a different wrap... until we saw the next 2 rolls. Our server didn't let us know that the restaurant defaults to making "soy wraps" until I looked over at the sushi Bar and asked the sushi chef. The sushi chef kindly told me that this restaurant now makes Soy wraps but they can make us seaweed wraps. As the server came back she told the chefs about us wanting seaweed wraps but we didn't tell her. (Which was false because she didn't let us know) Anyway, they were kind to remake the rolls for us. But just beware of soy wraps if you are looking for traditional sushi.

Food was great! Our Tapi Chef was good. He had good personality but wasn’t super entertaining. We had a party of 6 adults and two kids under 3 yrs. It was a Tuesday evening at about 7 pm. The restaurant was very busy and we had about a 15 minute wait. The restaurant was very warm (room temperature). Everyone enjoyed their meal and if course the fried rice was fantastic. I had scallops ( perfectly cooked). Due to kid issues did not get pics of food. All food was eaten by everyone so trust me. It’s worth the wait
