Having watched a lot of Kdramas and Korean food documentaries on Netflix, I was quite keen on trying jajangmyun with tangsuyuk and somehow by chance came upon this reel on the ‘gram about this Korean-Chinese restaurant that served authentic jajangmyun along with pork tangsuyuk!! I was elated and landed there on a Friday evening for some good food. I loved how simple the setting of the restaurant was, it felt quite homely. We were seated immediately and offered complimentary hot tea (quite appreciated because it was freezing outside). I had already decided beforehand that I wanted the jajangmyun and pork tangsuyuk but the menu looked so appetising that we ended up ordering a plate of fried dumplings as well.😬 The fried dumplings were great — not too oily and the mincemeat inside was really flavourful. The portions were also pretty generous, I think they had about 8 in a plate. The jajangmyun was exactly how I had hoped it to be — noodles in black bean sauce with pork and veggies. The sauce was not spicy at all, which I personally liked (not sure if they have a spicy version). We ordered the regular portion of jajangmyun and shared between the two of us, but this can easily be eaten by one, going by the fact that they have a larger serving also on the menu. The pork tangsuyuk served with sweet and sour sauce also tasted good. The pork was crispy and went well with the sauce served along with it. Personally, I didn’t find any sourness in the sauce, it was just sweet but the combination is a win. And the quantity is a loooot so it can be shared. All in all, great find (all thanks to my Instagram algorithm😅) and I would like to visit again and try more of their dishes. 🙂
Wow, the food exceeded my expectations. I went after seeing a review on TikTok and almost turned around because the outside is very unassuming, but the staff were so friendly they helped us with our baby, food came fast, large portions, and delicious. The interior is fine, could use a refresh/paint job, but if you’re looking for classic Korean dishes that satisfy, try this place!
The jajangmyun has mild seasoning, and the large is plenty to share between two people. The fried pork mandu is crispy and pairs well with their kimchi. Friendly staff, fast service.
Oh, what can I say. I was genuinely surprised by how much the food has declined. This place used to be a reliable spot where you could casually drop in and enjoy classic Korean-Chinese dishes like 짬뽕 and 짜장면. But something has clearly changed. As usual, my wife and I each ordered a dish, and both were bland and uninspiring. Our group also ordered a few additional items to share. Every single one was equally plain and disappointing. Honestly, they tasted like something an amateur might cook just for practice. Maybe I was late to the news. The place was only sparsely occupied even though it was a Friday afternoon. Felt so ... strange. It was shocking and sad, especially because this place has been around for so long. I truly hope they recognize the problem soon and fix it. I really do.
One of my favorite places to eat Korean & Chinese food in NOVA. We live over an hour away and still visit here at least once a month. There are a couple of places near by to get Korean desserts, too.
We had a quick dinner in this place. When you enter the restaurant you will feel immediately the changed of ambiance in a good way, I feel like we were really in Korea. It is also really nice to have people around who speaks the language and also can easily converse in English. The food was pretty homey. We had a hot stone bibimbap and a jjampong with sweet and sour pork. The side dish was also amazing. Love the place and the vibes.
Food quality and taste has surely degraded over time. This restaurant served pretty good fire enhanced Jjamppong years ago but this time there was no hint of fire aroma in Jjamppong. Tangsooyouk batter was flavorless and lacked light coated crispyness. Pork meat inside was a bit dry. Compared to NYC, this restaurant fails to meet average quality expected in Korean Chinese cuisine. I should not even mention and compare this restaurant to Korean Chinese in South Korea. This place is wayyyy subpar.
