Common Good Books

I usually write my reviews in the form of a poem, but I can't seem to make the words flow today. I apologize. This seemed to be a lovely bookstore. It was very close to where I had some business to attend to, so I thought I would stop by. They had the book I wanted to purchase, and I had more than enough legal tender to purchase it. Unfortunately, the establishment does not accept cash. Whether this is a step towards a dystopia where cash is meaningless and all money is digitally controlled by private banks, or this was just a sensible decision for this business to make, I do not know. It may be both While the defining moment of my visit was not being able to purchase my book with legal tender, I want to emphasize that this was a fantastic establishment, and I would visit again. Thankfully a lovely woman stepped in and offered to pay for my book with her credit card, allowing me to pay her back with cash. I love this woman. Community > Capitalism. In wanting to be honest, I will admit something to you all: I had a debit card in my front pocket the whole time. But, my pride got the best of me, and I refused to use it. It didn't feel right to be denied paying with cash. In the end, I think this store has a true heart. The employees were kind (a very important note here: The woman checking me out wanted to let me pay with cash, but feared the reaction of her boss. Management intimidation??? I think not. But stay weary.), and the selections were great. Just make sure to bring a credit card 🙂
