Erasmus Books

This place looks super sketchy from the outside, but it was one of my absolute favorite book shops I have ever been to! Such a great hole in the wall. The atmosphere was so welcoming and eclectic. The variety of books was immaculate. The service was super nice. If I lived near here, I would definitely be a regular!

This past week on a trip to South Bend, Indiana to see a good friend, I visited a nice, out of the way, discrete, bookshop. Nestled in a house in a typical neighborhood is Erasmus Books. If you do not have the actual address, you might pass it up; especially if you miss the small "Books" sign hanging from the outside house frame. Inside, from floor to ceiling, there is a treasure trove of wonderful books. If you are ever in South Bend, DO NOT miss this shop. It is well worth the stop!

Erasmus has been a staple of my high school days and it hasn't changed one bit, except maybe the birds in the back room are no longer a feature there. Two cute dogs have replaced the birds. The owner has always been a kind soul. Every time I took my niece to Erasmus, she was sure to come away with a free children's book. Undoubtedly my favourite bookstore & I'm so happy it's still around.

Such a hidden gem! I took my Mom here for her birthday, and books from floor to ceiling, every genre! Not to mention the affordable prices, just a beautiful place with great vibes. :)) (Owner was spectacular too!)

Found this gem on Google maps and checked it out. It was hard to find especially with the sign blocked by the tree. The gentleman who owned it was very nice. He has soo many books that it can be overwhelming. But he is happy to point you in the right direction. He has some real gems and some great finds if you take time to look for them.
