Magus Books

One of my favorite bookstore in the world. Incredible selection.

We stopped by this store and got a couple of books. They have a large selection and the books are reasonably-priced for used books. The aisles are a little tight so there were some times that we went to a different area while waiting for someone to move out of the area we wanted to check out, but that's okay! They have bookmarks available in several colors, which was awesome because we got to pick out our favorite colors while having a small, free, Seattle keepsake. The person working was very nice! I definitely think that this is a spot worth checking out.

The only place in Seattle that I have been able to find Latin literature (and in great condition). I will be making it a habit to check their selection! I picked up the Odes by Horace and a critical edition of De Clementia by Seneca

My friend and I witnessed the owner yelling at a woman for bringing her books in to sell 2 minutes before 4pm (the time they stop accepting books). He yelled at her about how it’s his store, his money, and she’s wasting his time. We left immediately, but went back to ask a worker who told us that the woman had been doing this repeatedly. Even with the context, it’s still incredibly rude and aggressive to yell at a customer like that, especially when she was not arguing or talking back. It left such a bad taste in our mouths. This was our favorite local book store but I don’t think I’ll go back after this.

You can drive from Silver City, NM to Seattle, WA and never see a book store once in any town you drive through. I love these stacks, these displays, the people who wander around. Find a stool and read some passages. Discover something yummy. Appreciate life in a realm of disappearing worlds

Gives an old vibe, but overall having a variety of books.

I live in the northeast, and I’ve been searching for bookstores with anything close to Magus’s selection of high-quality law books.
