Kobo Shop & Gallery on Capitol Hill

Skip this place!!! Before even saying hello, the worker yelled at us to leave our bags in a cardboard box by the door — as if we were about to steal something from a store that is literally the size of a box itself. The space is absurdly tiny and wildly disorganized, yet somehow we were treated like a security risk. Meanwhile, a white customer was allowed to shop with a bag without issue. The profiling was obvious, the attitude was unnecessary, and the experience was insulting. Plenty of better places to spend your money.

Love this small japanese gift shop, always lovely to see all the cool new art and gifties here. And very nice staff 🙂

Just a small cute place, worth to visit and look around

Kobo always has an excellent selection of quality items. Their space welcoming and staff are helpful and friendly. Great spot for unique and often handcrafted gifts.

We absolutely loved visiting Kobo when we lived on the Hill and highly recommend you go here just to have a fun look! They've made every birthday, anniversary, and holiday gift choice so easy for me. They also have great cards and furniture and home goods, handmade and imported. I really love them. Go look at their awesome stuff!

Super cute little shop with Japanese home goods, linens, clothing, and a few charming knick knacks. My girlfriend got a beautiful pair of sunglasses which were reasonably priced and I found a book I'm very interested in. The owner was super friendly and helpful and was playing some really cool Ethiopian jazz that I talked to her about.

We were early for our reservations at Cook Weaver around the corner (so good) and stopped here. This shop has some of the most beautiful ceramics I have seen on display anywhere. I am a potter and have been for 20 years. If you love very high quality artisan pottery, this is the place. Definitely worth the stop.
