Best collection of books and music I've seen in potentially any physical store. You can find some weird and obscure horror here, which I really appreciate. Pretty much the antithesis of any corporate bookshop. Always a great metal record section too. Staff is awesome.

Very good little book and vinyl shop under the stairs of a larger building. I was drawn to the vinyl crates. They had a good selection of vinyl and it was well organized into genre. I found a couple of albums that interested me and the price was great. Those that I was with also found several books that were of interest.

I didn't know Small Friend existed. I was on my way elsewhere but saw their sign out front and went in curiously. No regrets at all. Great selection of books. Very clean space. Reasonably priced books. Friendly staff.

Amazing and quirky selection of books and tunes, and superb service every time! I particularly enjoy the horror/gothic and poetry sections, as well as the great array of independent zines. Zoe and Jordan run an excellent store. I recommend this place to everyone!

Small Friend exemplifies what I find to be the most important aspect of running a good book shop: curating discovery. While my weekly visits over the past three years have indeed become a routine, the feeling is anything but. The sense that I could find something mind-blowing, or soul-stirring, or exactly right remains just as fresh today as it did upon my early visits. Flow is key to perusing any library or book shop. I want the books to find me as much as I want to find them. As such, Small Friend's quaint premises allows for thorough and exciting exploration without ever feeling overwhelming. It's the breadth and depth of the goods that counts anyway and Small Friend holds fast and proud to this tenant of good book shops. Used books and records are not an afterthought here, but a driving force of their ethos, representing a marvelous variety of authors, musicians, genres, topics and eras, nearly all remaining at least half-priced or lower. In this way, Zoe and Jordan treat the customer as a respected reader, thinker and feeler first. They're people who believe that buying books or art for yourself or others should not be a costly affair but an act of love and in solidarity with the common good. Even if you spend ten minutes at Small Friend, this humane sincerity is apparent in the way shelves and displays are presented, what kind of music is playing, what kind of zines or buttons are showcased. It's this thoughtful, compassionate and purpose-driven mentality that will keep me coming back to Small Friend for years to come.

Great little local book shop. Better book selection than records, in my opinion, but friendly and cute!
