DON’T SHOP HERE!! I’ve always loved the Value village store and have shopped them for years and years and been PROUD of the things I get there, the majority of my clothing purchases for my family have come from second hand stores and the thought of me writing a negative review for one just feels awful, as I want to encourage people to shop secondhand stores and wish everyone would, I wish we had more of them but….. the Value Village stores policies are making it impossible for me to justify shopping there anymore. Value Village stores sell everything, a wide variety of things, but they definitely sell a lot of clothes yet they no longer offer/have ANY dressing rooms AND they have a NO REFUND policy too!!!! They only offer a short exchange period for clothing items, but an exchange is completely different than returning something for a refund. Its wrong and unfair to be in the clothing apparel business where you are selling (trying to) sell clothing but not giving customers the chance to try them on beforehand as well as forbidding us the rather normal opportunity of returning them if they don’t fit. Honestly, it’s enough to make me want them to go out of business, which is really shocking because I think we need more secondhand clothing businesses not less, but they do not play fair and there is competition out there that does, so they are not worthy of our business in my opinion. They used to have dressing rooms, which proves that at one point they had their head screwed on right but at some point, they just decided the heck with the dressing rooms and if that’s what they wanna do fine, but at least give us an opportunity to return clothes if they don’t fit. Today was likely the last day I’ll ever shop there for me or for my family and I will be telling my family members to go to Goodwill instead.😖☹️ Also, I have been SUCH a lifelong advocate of buying secondhand and have always loved anybody that steps up to the plate to have stores like this since they are so good for the planet, that I would work there if not for this policy, and they are hiring, and I used to love love LOVE Value Villages so it would make perfect sense for me to work there but I can not stand behind this policy of theirs, it feels like they are punishing people who are actually doing the right thing by shopping second hand. Shame on them for having this policy I literally cannot express enough how wrong it is and I wish they themselves could see that this policy is a gigantic turn off to customers and it is a very un environmentally friendly policy to have because if not for this policy, I would shop there more and even work there but not being able to return something that doesn’t fit shows me they just don’t care about customers or the environment which is is really disheartening. Do not stop thrifting, especially when it comes to clothes, just find a different place to do it. 😩😣😞
I used to love shopping at VV, but the prices are completely insane now. $150 for an old Eddie Bauer trench coat?! Hardly ever any hidden gems here. Just a lot of overpriced junk unfortunately.
Been coming here for months and the prices have gotten more and more ridiculous. Not to mention the lack of changing room and lack of return policy. Old, worn shoes (some missing insoles) are regularly priced at $30, some men’s tshirts are high as $15, and anything that has a recognizable brand is marked up steeply. I’ve seen jackets priced above $300 on the rack. Occasionally you might find something reasonable but I haven’t found any clothing I liked that was appropriately priced in my last half dozen visits.
You have to get there at right time. I have pirchase two running shoes at Redmond location, Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 and Speed 5 weeks apart for less than $16. After I scanned the treds using Google AI, the results were that the shoes still had about another 150-200 miles left. With these shoes being over $150 new, it was a bargain for me to use these as my daily trainers and not worry about babying them because of what I paid.
If I could give zero stars, I would- it was a genuinely awful experience. The layout in the store is confusing but at least it's clean and well organized. Real problems start when you look at the prices as they are the worst I've seen by a lot (and I go to thrift store in the area 2-4 times a week so I'm familiar with the current pricing). Staff was rude and berated my partner when they mentioned to me that they were shocked about a price on a specific piece of art. The staff member made sure to tell us that we just didn't have a eye for art like they did, that they were an avid art collector so they would know, and that actually the prices here are underselling the pieces. Maybe it's a good price for an art piece from an artist or a dealer but you got it FOR FREE and I have no guarantee to authenticity and I can't return the item for my money back! Left a serious bad taste.
I pointed out a bad price on a small piece of art to my partner, and then received a lecture from a worker about how I don't understand art. They kept going on while we checked out, which was luckily very quick as there were no other customers around. All of their prices are bad, and the shelves are consequently over full with product.
Came here a lot and the first week it opened everything seemed very normal for a thrift store. Then slowly they had worse items being priced like they were brand new and designer. A sweater with stains was $20+ and they don't have that many home items, just many many clothes, all priced insanely high. There was an old Xbox 360 game they priced for $40... don't even waste your time here.
