Great atmosphere owner is super friendly. Very helpful in helping me find books I'm in to. Large variety of books. I'm looking for books about WW2.you can trade books to get credit. Great place.

If youre gonna display political stuff in your window, at least have more than one political party. I was excited to check this place out but seeing that called all the joy in me. A shop with a clear political affiliation is NOT something ill ever support

Updated: In response to Book Owl’s reply, it was 2:56pm on a Saturday, well before 6pm. If you are not open, maybe turn off the "open" sign and have a voicemail/sign stating if your hours do not match the ones online or on the door as no one answered when we called about the locked door. We drove 45 minutes to visit the store and we’re very disappointed to find the door locked and to have our calls go unanswered. Original: Went to visit, but wasn’t open. All lights were on (including neon ‘open’ sign), but the door was locked. Tried calling twice and there was no answer.

I was looking forward to visiting this store during a crawl but was immediately turned off by the signs and stickers in the window for conservative politicians and pro-military propaganda. I imagine a lot of other book lovers will want to stay away too. Edit: owner seems antagonistic and sloppy based on other reviews and their unhinged responses to them. There are so many lovely used-book stores in Hampton Roads that actually want your business.

The owner is very nice and will help you should you ask. You can not only bring in your used books and get store credit towards your next purchase. It's a lovely system and the store is very cozy. I love going there during the summers!

Was here today. The cashier was nice and they had a great selection of books! The prices were reasonable as well. I would definitely go here again in the future when I want more books. They had so many great books that I actually almost got 2 books instead of sticking to my original plan of getting just 1. I would definitely get more than 1 next time

I have patronized the Book Owl on many occasions and recognize it as a valuable resource for my literary pleasure. It’s very well organized for a small shop, but stocked with a wide variety of authors and subjects. Nelson, the owner has earned my respect and appreciation, in many lines. He is truly a hospitable, compassionate and sincere person that both a role model and inspiration to the many communities (political, intellectual and spiritual) that he associates with. I strongly recommend people explore the Book Owl when you need printed literature. You will not be disappointed.
