Brickbat Books

If you love books and book stores, this is the place for you. Any person who loves esoteric non-fiction books quickly realizes that most book stores offer little more than a small selection of the most popular new titles. Brickbat is known by booksellers and book lovers across the country for a reason. They have a beautiful store in Queen Village. The staff are friendly as well (you know it's a good bookstore when the cashier knows a lot about the books you're buying). The best thing about Brickbat is that there's a whole new selection every time you visit. I recommend picking up one of their totes too; the material is very high quality and they are quite cheap. I have five. As a bonus, they play some really unique music there too.

One of the best bookstores I've ever been to for a thoughtful and very informed selection of art books and ephemera, poetry, and fiction. Plus an incredible record selection as a bonus (great Mississippi label LPs, for example). I always make sure to stop here whenever i'm in Philly. If you're into art books, it's a must visit.

This is a bookstore for those who enjoy leisurely exploration and discovery. Most of the store features walls of unlabelled shelves of pre-owned nonfiction and literary books by author. There's some selection of vintage children's books, LP records and literary gifts. There's soft music playing and knowledgeable, friendly staff.

This bookstore is a treasure trove for rare finds and quirky reads. The shelves are packed with surprises, and the staff clearly knows their stuff. It’s the kind of place you can get lost in for hours.

So happy they group their books by publishers. Love the curated selection; a great place to discover the indie publishers. The best book shops fill one with wonder and awe. This is one of those places, you feel the immense unknown of what humans write and think about, and indirectly, feel the immense mystery of this world.
