My favorite bookstore in KC and one of my favorite places in the world. The space and culture the Monsteras team creates is incredible. Close to coffee shops, perfect for browsing, always find something new (or old!) to take home.

Monstera is your bookstore destination in the entire KC metro area. The vibes are high, the books are the latest with a healthy mix of classics, and the staff is so friendly. Don’t need a book? Just stop in and take in the good energy.

I love Monstera’s Books. The whole shop is adorned in gorgeous green plants (also for sale) and a coordinating color scheme. They have a wide selection of new and some used books. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, so they can help you pick out items for yourself or for gifts. It’s also very simple to order books through them. I love shopping at this local bookstore—every dollar spent here supports real people in our community!

The first time I visited Monstera's Books, it felt a little bit like I'd been transported into another world -- an older, slower time where people know their neighbors and answer the landline. It quickly became one of my favorite spots in Kansas City. They've curated a gorgeous space with an attention to detail that adds up to a whole experience, but it's more than just a pretty place. The people who work here have heart and grit, and it shows. They know books -- they've helped me find new personal favorites and the perfect gifts. They host book clubs and cool events that bring people together, like craft nights and puzzle competitions. When so much is run on digitized algorithms, the people of Monstera's Books have created something truly special.

Monstera’s Books is an amazing independent bookstore! The staff is so kind and helpful. They have put a lot of work into the store to make it homey and welcoming. The displays and staff recommendations are unique and intriguing. I especially love the romance and children’s section. It is clear that a lot of thought goes into ordering wonderful books for the community. Oh and the plants! The plants are lovely. I also enjoy all the trinkets and bookmarks to pick from. Monstera's is my favorite bookshop! Everyone who works there is so welcoming and they have all been wonderful to get to know. They have a great selection and if they don't have it, they are happy to order it. They throw fun events throughout the year. I took a watercolor class and participated in puzzlerama! Kate and her team/family have put so much thought and effort into making the store unique and inviting. If you are from the area or visiting, stop by and check it out!
