BLK + BRWN.

Cory was friendly and helpful with ordering the book I was looking for. She recommended other books I might be interested in and offered to "talk books" anytime. Best of all, there are some free books available! Overall a great little book shop. I will definitely be back! ❤️

Visited BLK + BRWN on a trip to KC and loved it! A small but intimate book store experience. The owner was an excellent source for new and old books. They host regular book talks and other events. As a reader, I ALWAYS support small bookstores. Make sure you stop by for a book and great conversation!!!

This bookstore feels like home and the staff makes you feel like family; Unmatched knowledge and customer service, and by far one of the best small businesses to support in KC! With an amazing selection, Coming back to this store to get more books is now a huge motivator for me to read more often! Best bookstore experience I’ve ever had, will definitely return!

I placed an online order on May 14th for a book that was in stock. Knowing this is a smaller bookstore I allowed enough time and grace to and have reached out more than 3 times to the owner via email as well as on social media to be reassured all 3 times my book is in their hand and ready to be shipped... here we are July 10th and I've reached out via email to no response and no book. Truly disappointed and I feel I was scammed... its sad this was my first experience with a smaller bookstore as I am trying to stop shopping from Amazon. However it seems I won't be returning to purchase books here sadly as the owner lied countless times. I'm in the process of disputing this charge thanks to the lack of response, professionalism, and evident lack of goods I purchased. PURCHASE WITH CAUTION. YOU MIGHT NOT GET IT!!!!!!!!

Cory, the owner, was an absolute joy. She cares about black and brown experiences shared through books. KC is known for its food and bar scene, but BLK + BRWN proves that there is a safe and necessary space for those who love to think, use their imagination, and form community through the love of reading. God bless Cory and her beautiful space. Support local!

✨It is a bookstore, yes. However, that is the layman's description. It is actually a Rotating Literary Exhibition made up of books 📚 and complimented by artwork, albums and themed background music 🎶. The curator is also the shopkeeper. The BLK +BRN bookstore is a must visit location in Kansas City. It's even more. It is an experience❗

We need more safe spaces like this in our city! I haven't been yet but a good friend of mine has shared the warmth and the vibes this place was for her! Definitely looking forward to visiting myself this weekend 🥰
