Grand Valley Books

I love supporting indie bookstores! So I was very interested to check out this shop. Initially, it felt weird and unwelcoming because there were stacks of books piled high all around the register area. Then the owner (or employee?) was snippy with me when I asked a question. Okay, that’s kind of off-putting. Then she was *extremely* rude and nasty to my husband who had come in a bit after me. (Unwarranted.) I don’t live in GJ (family does), so this store wouldn’t be able to have a ton of business from me anyway. But I wanted to write a review to express my displeasure and warn other folks away. Rudeness in an indie bookstore! I was shocked! Bookstores are one place where you can usually count on people who are happy to share their love of books and aren’t mean. But not here. The staff was much nicer at the other bookstore downtown.

We stopped here on a road trip and it was the best experience! She really knew her stuff! Helped me find gifts for my siblings, chatted about books, and just made my whole day! Thank you so much. If we’re ever in the area again we will be by!!

Very rude service!! If you don’t want people to open a book "at a used book store" put up a sign or let them know when they walk in. There are polite ways of talking to customers and there is what ever they practice at this book store. This must be their hobby because they obviously don’t want to sell books.

What an amazing gem of a bookstore! We love visiting used bookstores everywhere we travel, and this was the best one we've been to in a long time. It was packed with books, well-organized, and the selection was great (so much more than just old mass-market paperbacks & self-help books from the 70s). We had to limit ourselves to only buying a few. So glad we found this place while we were in Grand Junction.

I needed a thick book for a hollow-book project I was working on. Obviously, the owner showed me the thick books she had in stock. However, she ended up having a wealth of knowledge regarding this exact type of project. I walked away with good tips that rightfully contradicted the guide I was using on WikiHow. I ended up buying the book at their sister store across town. I would highly recommend this place!

Wonderful experience here. Wonderful selection, helpful and friendly staff, my husband was chuffed at all the books everywhere. 🙂

My daughter LOVED this book store. The lady running it is so nice and helpful. Definitely made me feel like we were in Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls. Must visit if you’re in town.
