Barnes & Noble

Barnes & Noble is a great place year round, but so much better during the holidays. We recently gathered for the school Book Fair and a Grinch story time. The bookstore was brimming with boys & girls and their families. It could have been chaos with the amount of people there, but it was quite the opposite. I was surprised to see this is a two-story store with escalators as well as elevators on the southwest corner of the store. Children of all ages were enjoying time together with classic books and bestsellers too! The coffee shop was filling orders, the staff was helpful and accommodating, and I left with a desire to go back soon to peruse through all the great merchandise, and perhaps hide in a nook with a book somewhere in the store!

I’m really disappointed by the condition of our local Barnes & Noble. This store used to be a clean, welcoming place to browse and enjoy books, but it’s gone downhill. There’s trash around the store, and it feels like there’s little to no upkeep or management oversight. What’s especially concerning is that homeless individuals are now loitering inside the store with their animals — including one cat that appeared flea-infested. It creates an unpleasant and unsanitary environment for customers who just want to shop or relax. It’s sad to see one of the few remaining bookstores in such poor condition. I truly hope management takes action to clean up and restore the store to the comfortable, family-friendly space it once was.

The store seemed fully stocked and well visited. I am giving it a 2 because the greeter informed everyone except myself of the last day for the special of 25% off everything in the store. ALL the other persons informed didn't look like me. As a member, I knew of the special but was super offended. I hung around the entrance just to make sure that it was just an oversight.....nope. Its okay, I know that I am a wonderful, smart and friendly person.

The business is unfortunately going downhill more and more. Staff members now tolerate homeless individuals inside the store who insult and threaten customers in the most disgusting ways, and nothing is being done about it. We have been loyal customers for many years, but we will not be returning.

Awesome book store! First-time visiting, here you can find all kinds of books and, of course, their signature Starbucks inside to enjoy a good coffee while reading a good. Very quiet and relaxing place, to enjoy a good me time or with a special someone if you like to read.

In this location every single seat was taken up by somebody clearly loitering and not buying books. I was very disappointed because I came to browse but had nowhere to sit and read. When I brought it up to staff I was met with a disregard and ignorance of the situation. When did Barnes and Nobles stop prioritizing their customers, a book store should be for those that actually wanna read.

All Barnes & Noble stores are my happy place. This one in Fort Lauderdale, visited for the first time, is well stocked, spacious, and has nice staff.
