Honestly I found myself a little teary eyed at several different moments throughout that bookstore. Pretty Wonderful. ...I don't know what your heaven on Earth looks like besides the man or woman you love by your side but mine has books and magazines. Wonderful, beautiful books and magazines... journals and pens. Absolutely.
Great location. Store is huge. Well laid out. Big puzzle selection. Found everything I was looking and then some. Friendly, helpful employees. Clean bathroom. Lots of parking. Tons of adjacent stores to visit as well.
The products that are available for sale, are plentiful and versatile, with appealing choices. Check out their variety of bookmarks. They make very nice gifts for those that enjoy reading, or journaling. I highly recommend this store! 👌📕😊
I genuinely used to really enjoy going to Barnes & Noble Encinitas to roam the aisles as a de-stressing activity, even when I didn’t buy anything. I went there throughout high school and quarantine, and the staff was very friendly. When we were bored, going there was one of my friends’ go-to activities. However, in recent times, I’ve noticed that when I’m roaming the aisles, the current staff seems to watch me. It started probably about a year ago—one of the managers was definitely keeping an eye on me, buzzing by too frequently and peeking down the aisle too often to be written off as coincidence. I genuinely don’t know what I did to deserve being treated like someone who needs to be monitored. Some (emphasis on some) staff members also come off as monotone and unfriendly. Not that anyone owes me anything - but just a note. I also work in customer service, so I understand having an off day. I wouldn’t outright accuse anyone of being racist, but I can’t help but think about it—especially when I’ve never done anything to suggest I’m a shoplifter. I don’t really enjoy going there anymore. I can barely catch a breath alone in an aisle without someone walking by or glancing over. It’s definitely more of a stressful, in-and-out errand for me now than the calming visit it used to be. Maybe I’m delusional but whatever.
Understan why there were 5 times as many employees as customers. Extreme hovering, very uncomfortable browsing experience, and cafe closed and only 2 chairs in large space.
The staff was very helpful and I really enjoyed the store, with plenty of space, choices and a clear way to navigate it
I've been to this location before and never had issues. My wife and daughter went out of their way to check out the calico critters selection today and I'm not happy to hear employees were hovering over them, as if they were thieves. Perhaps we're not the same clientele they're used to seeing, but that's no excuse.
