Em and Em's Books

This is a bookstore that's worth the trip from the southtowns to North Buffalo. Every time I stop in, I find the perfect book I didn't even know I was looking for. Friends from out of town request that I bring them back whenever they come in for a visit. The shop keepers have a wonderful collection of new and used books, and they have always warmly welcomed me and friends into the store. Proud to support this store and to know that their values align with doing the right thing.

I visited Em and Em's right before the turn of the New Year and had a fun time! They are small and growing but have a great selection of leisure reads, including books for children, young adults, and adults, ranging from nonfiction to fiction. They intersperse used and new books (great for me as I prefer buying used!) and I got a cute tote bag while I was there. The location is also great, at the North Park and Hertel intersection, so one can grab a Spot Coffee and a book.

It's always a good sign to me before I walk into a bookstore if I see several books I love in the display case ("Nona the 9th" was in the front window and "Bury Our Bodies in the Midnight Soil" was front and center in the middle display inside). I was able to grab a copy of "This is how you lose the time war" and my husband was able to find a couple books as well! Really enjoyed that even if it's not a huge bookstore, it feels like someone went out and found all the really good finds so you don't have to dig through a ton of fluff or semi okay reads. I definitely recommend visiting if you're in the neighborhood!

Such a cute book store with a lovely selection! What I appreciate most is how easy it is to actually pursue the books. In my experience, used bookstores have so much stock that they end up feeling claustrophobic and overwhelming. Contrastingly, Em and Em's Book's is spacious, inviting, and the shelves aren't overcrowded so you can easily see all the book titles. And as a bonus, if you want to support a local business but don't want to add to your TBR, there are a smattering of other items (stickers, candles, DVDs) on offer.

So glad to have such a cool bookstore with an amazing collection of curated books right on Hertel! The owners are amazing and add so much to our community! The books are all in fantastic condition and so affordable. Keep up the great work!

I can't believe I haven't reviewed sooner! This is my favorite bookshop in Buffalo and beyond. A great collection of books, a great atmosphere, and two of the nicest booksellers you'll ever meet. Five stars aren't enough!

The cutest little indie book store with an excellent selection, great staff who are always eager to help and suggest books, and a welcoming atmosphere. Em and Em’s Books is a place that makes you feel safe and comfortable. The perfect addition to our community!
