Firestorm Books

You have no doubt heard the phrase, "if you’re not pissed off, you’re not paying attention." If you are paying attention, then this is your bookstore. I normally don’t like bookstores that sell new books, because it’s nothing but the latest mass market paperbacks. But if you want political books that tell you what is going on and how you can help be a part of the solution, this is absolutely your store. I recommend you stop in, buy something, and pay in cash because it is anonymous.

I have loved this place since they opened . I especially love the children's books about faery's~ Hard to find elsewhere, also as an herbalist I absolutely love the herbalist section, with many informative books about permaculture, mushroom foraging. ect.. My husband also was grateful to get a veterans discount the last time we shopped here. Thank you!

A fantastic bookstore with so many wonderful books! Huge selection of LGBTQ, radical, and revolutionary books. I splurged out and got some fun books and also stickers and a ton of patches. There is also a really cool book reading there and it was wonderfully facilitated. Can’t wait to go back and support this worker owned and revolutionary minded bookstore in the future.

Amazing bookstore with a vast collection of ‘alternative’ books. Books range from homesteading to queer poetry to black history and much more. Firestorm also offers great programming including speakers, documentaries, fundraisers, organizing and more. Firestorm has my whole heart and wallet. I love this place

My new favorite bookstore in Asheville! Fabulously curated selection and helpful and kind staff. So many book covers facing out makes for an incredible browsing experience. Sale tables in the back and adorable children’s section.

Absolutely beautiful bookstore with great literature and kind staff. As an immunocompromised person, I greatly appreciated masks being enforced. Loved the emphasis on community care, as well as the free zines and free covid tests. Wishing I lived closer so I could visit more often!!! Definitely at the top of my list of best bookstores I’ve gone to!

Just the pictures alone should let you know this place is worthy of visiting. A raccoon with goggles reading Ursula K. Le Guin, and Octavia Butler ?! Count me in. Also during Helene this became an amazing community center which supplied water and other necessities to the people of W AVL. Thanks yall!!!!
