The Dawn Treader Book Shop

This is a very large used book store with lots of variety. We enjoyed looking around. There were more older books than newer ones, which is to be expected at a used place. Prices were about 8$ for a paperback so a little pricey depending on what you are getting. Very cool place to check out!

I have been here a few times amd most recently started searching for an older rare book online it didn't appear to be in print anymore so I went to AbeBooks, lo and behold, to my surprise Dawn Treader had it in stock and were able to get it for me. I couldn't make the drive there this time sadly but it was shipped so fast and the book was in absolutely immaculate condition. I will most definitely be a customer for life especially as my love of older books and the carr Dawn Treader takes with the books in their care simply cannot be beat.

About ten minutes into my visit at the Dawn Treader, the question occurred to me: "Is this one of America's best used book stores?" The answer is: "I don't know. America has a lot of used book stores, and I haven't visited them all. But I do know that this is a VERY good used book store (packed full, books stacked up the walls, knowledgeable staff, plenty of quirkiness), and if I'm ever in Ann Arbor again, I'll be sure to revisit it.

Love the rare books section in the center. Love just lookinng through all the old books, the rare books, then the ones i can't read (written in a foreign language). With everything becoming so digital, things like books, novels, the art of language and words can easily be erased or altered (especially at the rate AI is going) and that's sad. Books are part of history, whether they're fiction or non-fiction and to make everything digital and easily wiped from the digital space theyre in is like erasing a small (or sometimes not so small) part of our history. And I have a lot of respect and love for this place for trying to keep the literary part of our history intact and continuing on. 🙂

I was traveling through the area and just Googled bookstores. The name of this store attracted my attention. I had no idea what I was getting into, I only put an hour on the parking meter. This is a great place. It can be overwhelming. I found several gems in the quick hour I explored this shop. Unless you’re going in for one specific book, expect to spend a long time browsing the vastness.
