I absolutely love the atmosphere and my naturalist Anjanette. Though I been living out of town for a few years I always find myself back to cultivate. Many friends ask who does my hair, so hopefully they are as satisfied as I am.
My experience with Cultivate Salon, was great! It's so nice to go to a salon, and relax, because you know that you are in good, experienced hands. Anjanette, gave me a beautiful braided style. My husband, who is usually closed mouth with the compliments when others have done my hair, really liked my new hairstyle. The shop is clean, and the stylist are friendly. I will make Cultivate Salon, my go to salon from now on.
First let me say that my son has been growing his hair for maybe seven or eight years without any haircut or trim. I researched natural salons for about 3 months because he is graduating high school this year and wanted a specific look for his senior year and activities. When I initially reached out to the salon, I spoke with Anjanette. She not only asked all of the probing questions to figure out what we were needing but she was able to decipher through my confusion, (because hair is NOT what I do!), but she even took it a step further by guiding me to send her pics of his hair, and the desired style, so that she could make sure she was able to provide, or figure out a way to get his hair the way he wanted it. On the actual day of the appointment, she called and said that she was finished with her client a bit earlier and asked if we could come earlier so that she could get to work. I sooooo appreciated that because it made me feel that she really wanted to take her time making sure he was comfortable with her, and that he had her full attention. When we arrived, we sat while she cashed out her previous client and she went to work. She was detailed, engaging, knowledgeable, educating, patient (with me because I didn't have a clue), and informative. She executed with grace and amazement! He was so happy and so was I that we found our natural stylist. It was a divine match and we couldn't be any happier with her. She also showed us and had us take pics of the products she used so that in between his visits, we can maintain his hair with ease. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE visit her for your natural hair needs, and education, you will NOT be disappointed!✌🏾
Not very welcoming upon entry. In all fairness,it appeared as if appointments were/are preferred or required. There is a charge for setting an appointment. However, prices aren't listed and the woman I spoke with was vague in offering a range in prices other than to say deposits were not returned if appointments were canceled. I imagine that the three customers in attendance were all regulars as the sytlist's hair was unkempt and her appearance was not particularly neat. My last impression, and it was and will be my only visit, was that business is good and the shop is not in need of or necessarily looking for new customers or to grow the business. Best of luck to the proprietor.
I love "MY" salon!! The owner Lana is awesome! I love my cosmetologist/stylist & I consider her a friend- Anjanette! I've been going here for over 12 years. Professional, clean environment, still practicing Covid protocols. Bonus- restaurant next door if you running short on time to eat before your appt. Cultivate Salon is a beautiful black owned business😘 They aren't messy and filled with drama! It's all positive vibes and good down to earth ladies & funny to. I always leave with a smile & I appreciate them. They provide good quality service. You need a calm & positive vibe when you're relaxing & having your crown attended to & they provide just that. I have long locs that Anjanette started. I usually get loc maintenance -wash and style. I frequently get the Apple Cider wash, the scalp steam service, hair protein treatments & color. You will not be dissatisfied!
Horrible Communication, and double booking problems. My first time going to this shop was ok, but my second time going someone was in the chair during my appointment time. The owner of the shop did not start my hair until 20 minutes after my appointment time, and then she kept stopping my hair to do her other client hair. I would not recommend this shop to anyone, also the owner seems to have a bit of an attitude problem.
I am new to STL and I was referred to Cultivate Salon for their expertise with natural hair. So first, I set up a free consultation with Danielle where I told her about the style I wanted, showed her pictures, set up appointment, etc. During my actual appointment, Danielle was so so nice and listened to all my concerns, answered questions, talked me through the style I was getting, etc. I was getting a brand new style that involved a lot of cutting and color so I was very nervous but, in the end, it came out perfect! Such a great experience and atmosphere. I will definitely be returning!
