I had a great experience working with Erika, the owner. From the start, she was attentive and really listened to what I wanted. The haircut turned out exactly how I asked — clean, balanced, and easy to maintain. The space itself is beautifully and intentionally set up. It has a very calm, lovely atmosphere that immediately helps you settle in. The hair washing was incredibly relaxing, and her intuition and skill with scalp massage really stood out. You can tell she understands not just hair, but scalp health as well. She also gave me thoughtful, practical tips for caring for both my hair and scalp at home. Highly recommend Erika if you’re looking for someone who combines technical skill with a genuinely grounding presence.
I was gifted a spa treatment for Christmas and was looking forward to this experience. I booked online and never received a confirmation for my appointment. I called and left a message for the owner 2 days before my appointment and got a call back the next day. I showed up 20 minutes early being unfamiliar with the area and spa. I followed the directions to get to the spa and called 7 times between the call box and main line with no answer. This was not a good start and made me want to leave. Someone came out of the elevator at 4:01 (my appointment was at 4pm) so I went up in search of the spa. I was greeted with apologies from the gal who performed my treatment. The "spa" was a run down hallway with multiple doors to rooms. I entered one, feeling rushed to get started. The room is VERY small and my gal did not lock the door behind me. I could tell she felt rushed and continued to apologize for not answering my calls. The room is located next to the max so you hear it every 10/15 minutes and it shakes the room. She never explained what she was doing throughout the whole process. I was not relaxed at all and left feeling uneasy. I also left with wet hair, they did not even dry my roots like the website said. She kept apologizing for not drying my hair. Apparently, you need to schedule a blowout and pay extra after your spa treatment? My 90 min appointment ran until 6pm. I left with the next client waiting outside the door complaining she called the box multiple times with no answer. The website should list you don’t get in until or AFTER your appointment time. Not a professional business. Spend your money elsewhere.
Loved getting a head massage. Harper was amazing and super friendly. When booking the massage it had a questionnaire for a better experience. You get text reminders and an email with directions of where to park, where to go and all the information you will need. At first I thought the building was an apartment building (made my husband worry). However, it’s actually a ton of little small offices in this space. I used a gift certificate from a year ago and they never expire!!! I would recommend that if you are getting a head massage- get the longer on with a blowout. I had the short session and would have loved a longer session.
I had a wonderful experience at The Head Spa. Erika was lovely and professional, she did a scalp analysis which was really interesting and then the treatment itself was amazing. Various deep neck and head massage techniques plus hair masks that are so relaxing and restorative. Then a blowout that made my hair look fantastic. Days later and my hair still felt and looked so silky and smooth. Highly recommend this truly relaxing spa experience with Erika!
Everyone needs this! 90 minutes devoted to caring for the head and neck, where most of us hold so much tension, is such a brilliant idea. The spa is such a relaxing setting tucked away right in the middle of bustling NW Portland. I felt immediately transported to a special place of relaxation and pampering. Harper was pleasant and professional, and with each technique she used, I could feel the care and thoughtfulness she put forth. She is very intuitive with her approach. This experience was such a wonderful way to relieve stress, and on top of that, my before and after scalp analysis, and soft, healthy hair post-treatment were proof that it was quite beneficial. The tools and products used were high quality. I am already looking forward to my next session, thank you Harper!
I had an incredible experience at the Head Spa on NW Lovejoy and can’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment I walked in, the space felt calm, clean, and thoughtfully designed—an instant exhale. The treatment itself was next-level relaxing: deeply soothing, incredibly thorough, and clearly done by someone who really knows scalp health. I left feeling lighter, refreshed, and more relaxed than I have in weeks. Every detail felt intentional, from the gentle techniques to the overall ambiance. If you’re looking for a unique, restorative self-care experience in Portland, this is absolutely worth it.
If I could give 10 stars, I would. Harper was incredibly kind, very fun and extremely talented at massage. Very relaxing atmosphere, such a nice way to treat yourself and crazy to see the results! Never thought my scalp could feel so clean and light, but it does!
