This place is run by the sweetest woman and has the most affordable prices in town. I have long hair and just go for a simple trim/layering, and I love it every time.

Saw good reviews and had high hopes! I have long straight hair with a middle part, length is ~5+ inches past my shoulders. I asked for a trim with very subtle long face framing layers, I emphasized VERY subtle a few times and was very specific about the haircut, even showed pic & video of what I wanted and didn't get much response from the hairstylist. I wanted to ask her to repeat back what I asked for bc I couldn't tell if she was listening but I didn't want to be condescending so I just put my faith in her. First issue, I asked for the shortest face layer to be 2+ inches or more below my chin/jaw, but the shortest layer is above my chin. Second issue, one side was cut and blended very well, very subtle like I asked for and looks great. However, the other side is choppy, uneven, and not blending into the rest of my hair whatsoever. I pointed it out at the end to have her fix it and she tried, but it still didn't and doesn't look right because she just over chopped on that side. Third issue, the seats don't lift up high enough so she might have you stand up. There was dark hair embedded into the walls which I had to stare at in my face while standing and getting my hair cut. Last issue, I left to discover my blonde hair trimmings all over my black shirt. Maybe she was just having a bad day, but all she said to me the whole time I was in there was "how was your summer" twice and when I responded in detail, she didn't respond back either time. I guess she forgot that she already asked me that question lol. I think if you're getting a simple trim and going home after, this place is great. Maybe bring a lint roller if going anywhere after.

Lee specializes in men’s haircuts, but I have been coming to her for years. She does an excellent job with women’s hair as well. I came in with a year of growth and asked to do something drastic: cut lots of layers and add bangs. She totally rocked my haircut and was very efficient and very affordable. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to get a really fashionable haircut at a reasonable price. I tipped her 30% of my total bill because she did such an excellent job and was so nice the whole time. She wants everyone to know that after 3 PM is a good time to show up if you need your haircut.

Came in today and Lee was amazing! She’s very thorough, yet quick! Got a very nice trim for my angled bob, definitely coming back!!!

Lee is such a sweet caring person and a great stylist! She will take her time and give you a nice haircut without the hipster personality and hipster prices. I have been going to her for the last several years. Give her a chance. You won’t regret it!

Straightforward and very affordable haircut. I have been happy with the results so far, though I just ask for a pretty simple men’s cut from a photo. The (only) stylist is also the owner, and has been there for 20 years. Nice and quiet environment. Walk-ins only. Maybe not *quite* the quality of some other salons in Portland, but everywhere else seems to be $40+ for a basic men’s cut and this is only $21… cheaper than Supercuts/greatclips and better quality + experience.

Six months before finding Star Salon, I regrettably chopped 8 inches off my hair. Since then, Lee has transformed my cut into a style I love! It also looks great as it grows out throughout the month. Also, Lee is fun to chat with and remembers the length I get my hair cut even when I forget. Plus you can’t beat the price!
