I am specifically reviewing Ash at Hug - She has been cutting my hair for over ten years (!!) and is the absolute BEST. I can go in with a vague idea and she will create a style I didn't know existed, and that is absolutely perfect. I trust her 100%. We always have meaningful conversation and I leave feeling relaxed and confident. She is an expert at precision, can work magic with a razor, and is versatile, creative, and loving. I'd recommend her to anyone!

Ash Bumpus-Martin is a unique, soulful, intensely knowledgable, creative hair magician. I can't recommend her services enough!! She will make your hair dreams a reality. Over the years, I have trusted her with choppy, disconnected high-fashion rock n' roll razor hair cuts that she expertly tunes to my mood, face and sense of style and expression. Ash is really spot on with color. She's adventurous and inspiring around hair ideas, listening closely to my hopes, desires, and fears—always executing a cut that makes me feel equally brand new and so myself. My most recent Ramones-meets-Sunny & Cher-precision cut with bad ass fringe is my favorite haircut I've ever had. We are so lucky to have Ash in this city, book right away!!

Not only is she an expert in her field, she is also a masterful conversationalist who truly listens to understand and makes you feel comfortable at all points in the service. I hired her to do my hair and makeup for my wedding, and it all turned out STUNNING. She was my rock that day tbh. I've gotten both edgy razor cut mullets and soft/flowy haircuts, balayage highlights, full "apricot" color that was insanely beautiful, and all the way back to my natural hair grown out longer than it's ever been before. Ash is an expert at creating haircuts that lay just right every day for low maintenance styling. Her precision cuts helped me grow out my longest, fullest, healthiest head of hair ever, and when I wanted a change she gave me the cutest French bob of my dreams. I was nervous to go short because my jawline isn’t my strongest feature, but she took extra care to ensure the cut was just the right length and shape to compliment it. It’s so great to have a stylist you can trust. The salon is super cute and it’s always fun and friendly vibes.

I’ve been going to Ash for over a decade! She gives the most incredible precision haircuts with a razor. She has such an eye for detail and shaping. As someone with extremely thick curly hair it’s so hard to find a stylist that understands my hair. She does an incredible shag on me that I get compliments all the time. I moved away from Portland but I literally drive 8hrs so ash can still cut my hair because I could never trust anyone else. I couldn’t recommend her more.
