I could not recommend Retreat more than anyone else! They treat all their clients with respect and have such a welcoming environment. I see Aimee and she ALWAYS gets my vision down to a T! My hair is healthy and she gives amazing advice on how to keep my hair at the best it can be! Everyone is sweet and make your experience good. They have good products (aveda & shiubi) which in my opinion smell amazing and always make my hair so soft. Couldn’t recommend such a personable hair salon!
They all do so amazing! Haley has spent 6 hours ensuring my hair turns out the best it can & she tells me all the possibilities before we even dive into doing my hair. I’ve been warned of any negative outcomes & sometimes they will suggest something different as the whole salon doesn’t want to ruin my hair, but help me keep it heathy. Retreat hair salon is the reason why my hair has grown over 3 inches in the past 2 years. I’ve been given the best advice & have had the upmost care to my hair when I enter. You guys are amazing & I really appreciate all the services, how sweet yall are, & the general vibe of the salon! The prices are accustomed to each client and what they choose, it’s very fair! They put in hard work for hours on end! My hair can be quite hard to tame but somehow they’ve made it look and feel beautiful, refreshed, & my hair growth journey started because of Retreat Hair Salon!
In response to salon, I find it unnecessary and unprofessional those details were shared publicly, which I believe crossed a professional boundary. I deserve more respect and privacy. There was no prior communication about any concerns with how I scheduled or followed your policy. I booked these trims as instructed & was not trying to be unfair to anyone. If fairness and consistency were truly the goal, you should have charged the fees at the time rather than waiving them and later using them to justify ending the relationship. Fact check 7/31 I called to say I was running late and en route; they no longer had time. I paid the fee on 9/26 per policy and no problem. 9/26 Payton informed Bry I was there. Then was told Bry wasn’t available but brandi could. It was then I clarified to Brandi that it was a dry trim, not upon arrival. I agreed to Brandi, but she later declined not me. I only asked if someone had time for a brow wax & I scheduled for following week. Didnt feel unreasonable to ask. I was blindsided by how it was handled and the lack of accountability. Original: I’m writing this with real disappointment after being a loyal client for years. Since quitting coloring my hair, I’ve scheduled the last 3–4 trims with Bry as "bang cuts" because that’s how the salon and Bry instructed me to book them. This was never a problem until yesterday. I had my appointment scheduled months in advance, showed up, and here’s how it played out: Payton first asked me to pay for the appointment upfront. After going to the back, she came out and said Bry was running behind but Brandi could do it. Note: no one called me to say she was running behind. I said okay, especially if Bry was going to be an hour late or more, but it’s hard to switch stylists as I was comfortable with Bry. They went to the back again, and only Payton returned to say Brandi could no longer do it and there was nothing else that could be done. I asked how long I’d need to wait for Bry as I didn’t mind waiting. Payton went to check but when she returned, she said the manager was on the way instead. When the manager, Kelsey, arrived, she didn’t acknowledge me. She just checked the computer and said they couldn’t get me in because it shouldn’t have been scheduled as a bang cut. I pointed out that it wasn’t my fault, as I had scheduled this trim exactly how the salon instructed and as I had done before. Her exact response was: "It’s not our fault you no-showed multiple times. We need to dissolve this relationship, and you need to leave." I was completely blindsided and asked her to prove it. She said OK and checked the computer and a book. The only examples she provided were one short-notice cancellation with her (which she graciously didn’t charge me for and rebooked the next day) and a brow appointment I still paid for per policy. Neither was a true no-show or no-call, just short notice, which I understood and respected. I’ll admit I was upset but I did not become irate. I was mostly speechless. What still has me most perplexed is that I arrived for a confirmed appointment and the "solution" was to be told to leave with no service, essentially because they didn’t have time and kept insisting this was my fault for scheduling as a bang cut. This was just a dry trim, ends only, no layers, bangs, styling, or shampoo (literally 15 minutes is what it usually took Bry to do). My stylist, Bry, never came out to speak with me. Kelsey, who had previously done my brows and my daughter’s hair with no issue handled the situation harshly. There were comments about her own schedule and obligations, which made me feel guilty she even had to come in. I had taken off work, had my toddler with me, and showed up for my confirmed appointment only to be told to leave with no service and not come back. I’ve always looked forward to my appointments here, which makes this harder to process. I never thought I’d leave this salon without service and in tears. I left unsettled, hurt, and in shock. Sadly, I no longer feel comfortable returning, even if I were welcomed back.
Kelsey is the best! She took me last minute and gave me a spectacular butterfly haircut. I will be coming back! Plus they have a coffee bar!
I've been going to Lee's Summit Retreat for all my cuts and colors for the last 3 years. My stylist, Hayley, has been always amazing. Working with me on my visions for what I want to do for my hair. She truly loves what she does and it shows, I trust her with my hair and even to the degree she is the only stylist I take my daughter too. You pay for not only the talent and quality but a trust with your stylist. I always recommend Hayley and Retreat.
My experience here has been so so. The color I had last year was so saturated it was ink black (they were great to do a correction for me) and the cut was great. I went to that stylist for cuts for a few times and they were all great. Unfortunately that stylist is gone so I had a new one for my most recent cut. It was such a terrible cut, I went back for a correction and even "corrected"it’s still the worst haircut I’ve ever had. To be fair, I have curly hair so maybe she can actually cut straight hair 🤷🏻♀️, but if you have curly hair, I would definitely recommend not having Hayley as your stylist. As you can see in the picture, there are so many holes I can’t do it curly OR straight, and now am having to pay someone else to fix it.
I got my hair done with Payton and I could not of had a better experience! She was so kind and kept making sure I was comfortable and kept asking me questions about exactly how I wanted my hair! Also the entire staff is extremely kind and I have never felt so at home at a salon! 10/10 stars if I could truly!
