I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy after any haircut I’ve ever received. Khou listened to me and asked many questions before she started working on my hair. I really felt like she took the time to understand exactly what I wanted. My hair used to lay so flat and was so blunt and straight with no movement. After my haircut, Khou added the most perfect layers to give my hair movement and dimension and I’m absolutely OBSESSED. I’m usually nervous after a haircut because I’m not sure how it’ll sit after it’s washed post haircut, but even with my hair not being styled and just letting it air dry, I looooove how it looks. It’s so cute and feels so healthy and fresh. Thank you SO much Khou for giving me my absolute favorite haircut!! I can’t wait to come back for future cuts. I couldn’t recommend her enough. She’s usually booked out for several weeks, but it’s SO worth the wait!

This was my first time going into a hair salon to have my hair done in over 10 years...so of course, I was nervous. As soon as I walked in, Khou was very nice and welcoming. Khou explained everything to me about the layers I wanted in my hair including my bangs. She did an amazing job layering my hair and framing my face with bangs! I love my new hairstyle and will be coming back in the future 😊

When I discovered Khou’s page (@beautybykhou), I was so excited because the work on her page was SO beautiful. She seemed to be able to do exactly what I wanted, so I booked her next available appointment for about a month in advance. For reference, I requested face framing layers, bangs, and to keep some of my length. I requested that my bangs land about mid-eye so they’d be shorter once styled. At the time, they were just past my chin. She did great on my layers on the back of my head but she did not cut my bangs how I asked. They’re mid-forehead. She pulled them down to claim they would be mid-eye once they fell (after being blow dried) but they’re not. She messed up. I could see it on her face. The bangs are not blended at all, she said they’re wispy but they just look like when a kid cuts their hair. They look so out of place and there’s no way to make it work. I’m forced to pin them back awkwardly since they’re so short-it looks ridiculous. I didn’t speak up or confront her because I can be unkind when I get upset, so I paid the $120 + tipped and I won’t be returning. If you’re looking for layers she can probably do it, but I wouldn’t recommend her for bangs. I regret cutting my hair and I don’t think the service was worth $120 for a wash, cut, and style. She did blow dry my hair and curl it but it didn’t last. It could’ve been because of the sprinkling from the rain but my hair usually holds a curl really well. For reference, I don’t use hair spray and I use a single leave-in product on a regular basis. I attached the reference photos I showed her, as well as a photo of my bangs with a different stylist (picture holding the pink phone) and my unstyled bangs (after hair wash day). It makes me so sad that this is what my bangs look like now, thin, out of place, and it looks like I’m balding. After this hair cut, I pretty much keep my hair in a clip until it grows out. I see no point in styling it, if the bangs kill the look whether they’re styled or pinned back. I have also included the reference photos I showed her when I went in. After my experience, I cannot recommend her and I would not return. Her work online looked so good that I didn’t even blink at the $120 price tag but more expensive is not always better. My last stylist charged $40 but I’ve moved since then.

Khou has been my hair stylist for the past 3 years, and she is the only person I trust with my hair. She is super sweet and knowledgeable. Before working on my hair, she always provide a thorough consultation with me. She walks me through the steps and explain what she is doing to my hair. She does her best to achieve the hair of my dreams. Best of all, she does this all the while ensuring the least damage to my hair. She truly takes her time to work on my hair. Her blending skills is chef kiss. Also, Khou gives the best hair cut! I can always trust her to give me the most voluminous hair. Definitely book an appointment with her! You will walk out of her salon feeling like a million buck.

Khou is an artist. Highly professional, extremely talented and offers a bespoke approach to her styling—I feel so lucky to have had a session with her. I’ve gone to highly rated stylists in Tokyo, London, Milan, and primarily in San Francisco and Oakland where I resided for many years—I would often find that my hair would require more maintenance to keep shape. I grew my hair out for a bit over three years now to waist length. I’ve since washed my hair since my cut with Khou and found that it feels light and voluminous and looks lengthy even with three inches at its longest cut off. She didn’t need a razor to achieve what I feel to be perfect ends: clean cuts so my hair feels soft and not dried out at the tips. I’m extremely happy!

Had my first cut at Effortless Touch and I absolutely love my cut! Khou made feel so comfortable and answered all of my questions. She also went into great detail about my hair texture and what would work best for me while also giving me exactly what I wanted! Overall great experience, and even though I live 2 hours away, I’ll definitely be coming back to freshen up my look with Khou. Truly a master at what she does 🙂

I’ve visited the salon twice and saw Hanh (@thesnipsnip) for a full bleaching service and a toning appointment. She did an amazing job both times—I loved how my hair turned out. I’ve been trying to book a third appointment by messaging her on Instagram over the past month, but unfortunately, I haven’t received a response. I noticed she’s still active on Instagram and encourages clients to reach out for appointments, so I’m a bit confused and disappointed. That being said, Hanh is a talented stylist, and if you’re able to connect with her, you’re likely to have a great experience.
