duo Headspa and Nails

Went for a Gel X fill and Tatiana did an incredible job. Unfortunately I was just traveling through but will definitely be back next time I’m in Detroit. Highly recommend. Photo doesn’t do it justice

I really enjoyed my first experience at Duo. The atmosphere is so calming and the space is luxurious and clean. The front desk woman was friendly and attentive. I got a gel pedicure with Julia, and I would highly recommend her to anyone. She was very professional, kind and made the experience relaxing. I’m excited to come back and try more of the services.

I went there for the first time a couple months ago for nail services (gel mani/pedi) choosing someone random and Tati ended up doing my nails. I haven’t booked with anyone since!!! She is amazing from the cuticle work to the artistry to the attention to detail. She has never disappointed me!

I can only speak to the nail services, but I would not recommend duo. I booked with friends for a Saturday girls afternoon out, and when we arrived the spa had clearly overbooked nail services as we were all significantly delayed. I booked the overdue pedicure because I was truly overdue, and the service I received was barely an adequate quick service. I did not get any massage, I think the technician took one pass on my feet and ankles with sugar scrub before washing it off, and my cuticles and nail shape are subpar. The polish does not even go to the end of my nails. I had to ask at checkout to revise the service charge, and what I paid was way too much for the service I received. The real problem came when I moved to my manicure. The technician was wrenching on my cuticles and skin so hard that I ended up bleeding on two fingers. Then when my hands went in the light to cure the color gel polish my nail beds felt like they were literally on fire. The technician next to me kept saying it was because it was builder gel, but I have had gel/shellac manicures and pedicures for over a decade and I've never pulled my hand out of the light from pain. The tech ended up having to redo 4 fingers on one hand because of polish bubbling which he blamed me for. Looking at the end result today a day after the hand that I bit my tongue and didn't rip out of the light is also bubbled so I don't think it was fully my fault I think the polish was too thick and unevenly applied. One hand is thick and bubbled at the end of my nails while the other hand doesn't have polish to the end of my nail. My shape was terrible, my nails were short going in but not one nail was even which is what I asked for just to even things out in a soft square. Very disappointing especially for the price. I did not partake in the head spa service so I cannot comment, but I am in no rush to go back.

Update: I've changed my review. I get my nails done every 2-3 weeks and the polish always holds up. I'm 4 days in and several nails are already looking horrible. So disappointing. A waste of money and time. Such a great mani/pedi. To be honest, one of the best Ive ever had. I will for sure be back. And I can't wait to try the head spa!

Ive had my nails done beautifully here before, but the pedicure service was terrible. I did not even get polish on my toes, I had to leave early because the appointment would have taken almost 2 hours for a basic pedicure. That's ridiculous. My feet were soaking in tepid water and the employees here act like they're scared to speak to you, It's very strange. A waste of money.

Unfortunately, I had higher expectations. I don’t think I had a good experience. When I booked online I chose to do my nails with "Julia", but when I arrived it was someone else and they said it’s random, it’s not who you book with! Then it took 2 hours and half to do a builder gel manicure, and as you can see neither the shape nor the french tips are done well… but after 2 hours and a half I just wanted to finish although I explained that the shape is not done well. Lastly, online it says 50$ for gel manicure -and I’m not an expert in gel naming- when I wanted to pay they said it’s 90$+10$ french… they were nice enough to acknowledge that the website is misleading and charge 60$ instead of the 100$. The staff were very nice.
