Customer Reviews
Anew You Transitional Salon has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 based on over 115 reviews on Google
After visiting this shop three times I think it is time for a review. This is not a negative review, but it is my truth. The people in this shop are very nice, it is very clean and the atmosphere is very nice. I scheduled with Roland to get a retouch on my relaxer. I noticed the method that he used to apply the relaxer was different than what I was used to. My hair was parted into four sections and he began applying the relaxer on one side from the front moving backward, then he went to the other side and started from the front and applied backwards. I thought that was unusual, but I didn't say anything. So after several months had went by, I went for a second visit for a retouch on my relaxer, and the same method was used again. I am an older person, and I have had my hair in a relaxed state for nearly fifty years, and I have never had a relaxer applied this way. I had previously been getting my hair relaxed at another shop which is right down the street from this shop called Madison and Maine where the operator there was overprocessing my hair by leaving the relaxer on too long, so that is why I left that shop and came to this shop in hopes that my hair would be treated better. My hair is suffering from breakage, but I'm not blaming anyone because I really don't know who to blame. For the reasons stated earlier, I will not return. On the other hand, if you have natural hair and you are looking for someone to keep your braids looking nice. This is probably a good shop, because I did witness some customers coming in there with very nice braided natural styles. I will conclude by saying, Roland is a very nice person. I don't have anything against him personally. It's just the method used was not something I can agree to when applying relaxer.
After years of struggling to find someone who has the knowledge and experience to handle my type of curls, I finally found Roland in 2018, and I have been going to him ever since! The salon is always clean and very welcoming. Cenithia and Shazondia are also very talented and amazing to work with. Regardless of who works on my hair, me and my natural curls always leave happy!
Roland was absolutely amazing! This was my first time booking with him, and from the moment I walked into the shop, I felt completely welcomed. His warm, friendly energy was everything and more! Even though the appointment was efficient, Roland never rushed—he took his time to ask thoughtful questions about my hair and walked me through every step of the process. No surprises, just genuine care and top-notch service. Not only is he incredibly talented, but he’s also such a joy to be around. I left feeling confident and so happy with my hair. I’ll definitely be back!
Highly recommend this salon! From The moment I walked in, I was greeted by the owner, Ms. Cenithia, with such welcoming energy and kindness- it was just that wonderful type of vibe that you only get at a black owned salon! I accidentally booked the wrong service and Roland still took the time to do my hair to my desired style! He is professional yet so personable and I really enjoyed his energy! He didn’t try to rush through my appointment, and took measures to ensure my natural curls were cared for properly. During my appointment, someone called trying to book a last minute appointment, and even though they were fully booked they still worked this client in and that showed me how much they love what they do and helping others. I will definitely be coming back for future services and will recommend this place to everyone. Thanks again Roland!
This salon DOES NOT specialize in thick, high density 4C hair or cutting hair and I WISH this was stated PRIOR. The stylist should have just been upfront about not being able to do my type of hair but he was NOT. After almost 6 years of not going to salons this was the most disappointing experience. From beginning to end it was terrible, customer service was lacking and my hair looked TERRIBLE. Yes the way my hair looks in the picture was how I left the salon, white flakes and all. The "haircut" left my as uneven as it was when I first arrived. They discounted the hair cut but were NOT apologetic, so 4C naturals beware!
My sister, mother and I have been going here for the last 3 years. Cenethia and Roland are top notch and they care about their clients. I always refer them to folks that are local or visiting. Book your appointment today!
When I arrived I noticed place was clean,I washed my hands had a 245 appointment w Roland.Long story short I showed him of the looks I was wanting and he did not deliver !I came up out that place looking like an older lady! The style was not styling! He had the nerve to put some gel on edges only for it to look a hotter mess! For a place to be named a new you…?,It definitely was a new me bc baby ! That wasn’t it!He told me he’s use to cutting and styling short hair…Merry Christmas I hope u enjoy that 80.00 ,but u dead wrong.u should t never send your clients out the shop looking like this.
