I love Poo-Bah Records! It’s my favorite music store. I always find the most amazing records or CDs. I also love that you can try the records there too with the three turntables in the back. The staff is always upbeat and helpful. I literally have to restrain myself from going every weekend.

First time visiting this record store I was amazed of the amount of selections. I came for getting few records and whoever who helped me thank you I forgot to ask his name had been helpful, patience in selecting jazz records for me. I ended up with a couple great rare records with half or even lower of the price. Definitely recommended this place.

Recently dropped in for first time. Great store and helpful service. Everything from free records (under tables - there’s a reason they’re free!) to 3 digit bootlegs. Not a big place but packs a great deal of value in their square footage. Picked up a rare Alice Cooper album at a great price. If you’re in Pasadena and like vinyl, check them out! (Also have DVD movies and cassettes at good prices).

i couldn't tell if the record shop has been open recently according to another review they stated that it wasn't. i was in the area and stopped by to take a look but they were closed. i had visited in the past and enjoyed it's inventory and selection they always had. it's easily accessible if you're in the city or coming off the freeway. i hope to come back and visit in the future.

This place was the go-to LA record store in the mid 2000’s-early 2010s. Ras G was one of the store clerks, and there was a lot of LA beat scene type records, almost like a direct extension of Low End Theory. On any given day you’d run into the likes of Flying Lotus, Gas Lamp, etc. There was a very special vibe about this shop at the time. Prestigious and niche. I moved out of LA about 15 years ago and came back to visit family this month and decided to hit up the local record stores. I was saving Poobah for last, and wow, what a disappointment. First of all one of the two store clerks, probably about 20 years old, chewing gum, was playing the worst selection of random records the entire time I was there. Only playing about 30 seconds of each song, dropping the needle in random places. No cueing, just straight playing random songs. I was there for about two hours, it was torture. Worst part about it was he was confirming with the other clerk that every other song he randomly put on was a ‘banger’. I’ve never had such an annoying experience at a record store in my life. I’ve never seen such a pretentious ’DJ’ with no taste and skill yelling across the store about how dope his selection is. The other store clerk was definitely knowledgeable, outlined by how the first clerk was playing random obscure records in hopes to get a positive comment from him. I visited about 20 record shops while back in LA and this was by far the most disappointing experience. By the way, the place needs to be swept and mopped. There’s literally piles of hair, dust and debris in every corner of the shop. 2 stars, 1 for nostalgia and the other for the pretentious store clerk selectas. What a shame.

Had the perfect experience here. Just wandering about. See the shop. Walked into a place with a lot going on and great vibe. Found something I had been looking for for a long while and a price that would be silly to refuse. Bought it. Had a lovley chat with the charming cashier. I left with a big smile and something I couldn't wait to get back to my hotel room with and listen to.
