Love the vibe, collection and overall community that is built through this shop. They have vinyl records, 45s, tapes, CDs, toys and other goodies. They have lots of hip hop, rnb, funk, soul and jazz. Sometimes they even have special events. They contribute to the culture of downtown Hayward.
A small shop with a whole lot of LPs and a large selection of 45s! Cool tunes were playing while I browsed through their many genres. Very nice prices and friendly staff too. Check em out!
Maybe it was my fault or maybe it shouldn't even be an item that should be sold. Purchased a collectible record, in a good playable state very valuable $$$. I thought I was getting a good deal, but turns out this record has scratches all over. It's in a playable state, but really it's just a collectable paper weight. Something I can say is a rare find but not really pleasant to use. Which makes me think what's the point of even having it? All in all, feel like my trust was betrayed. Why even sell the record in the first place without at least a disclaimer. Perhaps I should hold every record I shop for in the light to go through thorough inspection, not quite the retail experience I want to have. On the redeeming end a couple of the cheaper records I picked up played and sounded relatively well. My only gripe was how dirty they were but I suppose that's not too uncommon. EDIT: For owner to see regarding recent reply. The record is not from the bottom. It is a $65 record that was displayed *top shelf* Gene Ammons Boss Tenor prestige w/ yellow label.
Came here looking for cds and they had a few to pick from. The gentleman who worked behind the counter was kool as hell . Was my first time going place was clean and had a good vibe. Go check em out if you are looking for records and cds.
Finally checked out Stacks record shop! I have been clearing out the garage and needed to make space. I spoke to Gabe and he was kind enough to let me donate all my old vinyl. Gabe is easygoing and cool to talk to. We spoke about old mutual friends and the days of djing in the bay area. Can't wait to come back and dig through all the vinyl! Gabe thanks again for letting me donate my records, I'm sure you'll have a good use for them
we came in on a Sunday Afternoon stroll, nearing closing time. After browsing through a few crates the guy informed us that they'd be closing in 5 minutes so if we wanted to buy some records we should check out now. it was the impolite way of saying "hey guys! let me know if you're looking for anything in particular... I don't mean to rush you but we close in a little while so if I can be of any assistance I'd be glad to help" anyway, from what I gathered before leaving out discouraged and empty-handed was that the prices on new records were about average ($35) and they had a pretty small selection of vintage vinyl. I probably wouldn't stop in again.
I never ever thought about purchasing my music again until I walked into this store on a friend's suggestion. All the classic hip-hop records you can remember come in and out of that place. The atmosphere is hella dope! If you don't have a record player for your NEW albums that you just bought...don't even trip! They can sell you one too! You owe it to yourself to check it out. They have classic r&b and jazz up in there as well.
