Living in Alaska there not to many music stores so I’m to report that this store is awesome. I was needing help for multiple instruments and the staff was helpful on all of them and gave me resources for teachers for the kids as well. Great customer service, I could tell it wasn’t about the money but it was because they loved music and loved what they do and because of that I’ll be coming back. Oh and they also have the best pianos selection I’ve seen so far in Alaska.
I walked in to what I thought was still The Music Man. I bought a clarinet for my son in 2021. I signed a document where The Music Man guarantees to repurchase the instrument from me. Fast forward to today, I asked the receptionist if she could buy back the instrument. She said they don’t buy any, they only take donations. I explained to her that I had that document(which I forgot at home). She proceeded to tell me in a very rude way, "So you think that paper is ganna make us buy your instrument because that’s not ganna happen." I was so confused. I asked her how long she has been here, and she said 5 months. I thought maybe she didn’t know that they offered to repurchase the instruments. My husband later called to speak to a manager(which one was not available) but the receipt told him that it’s no longer The Music Man, it’s now called Music and Arts. After that call, we put two and two together and thought maybe it’s now under new ownership and they don’t honor The Music Man’s repurchase policy. Instead of the receptionist being rude to me when I came in, she could have explained that it’s now under new ownership. That would of avoided the uncomfortable conversation. I will no longer bring my business here. So for anyone who doesn’t know, it’s now under new ownership and they don’t take the time to explain this to anyone who has been going here. All you will get is a rude receptionist with a big attitude. I suggest you guys take your business elsewhere.
I just want to give a shout out to the young lady behind the desk… it was a busy evening for her, working all alone, she handled it with grace and kept up with everyone’s needs.
I can't say enough about the overall impact that Hayden made on our child. He went out of his way, bent over backwards without asking him too and showed our son all the basics of how to use a clarinet. Gave a great suggestion of a used product we could afford and inspected it from top to bottom for us. After watching how passionate all these employees were its hands down the best music shop I've been to. This experience gave all of us that early childhood tingle we got as child when someone did something nice. A simple thank you isn't enough for this type of customer service and you definitely scored a devoted customer base for this quality service you provide our town.
The man was very helpful in helping us find stuff for a trumpet and told us about being able to come down to play music for free and even play some of the instruments available in the store. The kids and I had a fantastic experience.
A wonderful experience and great customer service. Being a newbie in anything is difficult, but Karen helped to educate me in getting a violin in working order. She went above and beyond my expectations and took the time to do things right. I greatly appreciated her help and will be returning to music man for all my music needs.
Poor customer service from an associate by the name of Jake. He made it seem like we were a hassle and didn't care to engage when I had questions. He sized my daughter up for a violin and then told us to go back and wait to be helped by another associate and left without informing us about anything. I literally was going back and forth from employee to employee until a lady employee finally helped us get my daughter sized for a violin. She was very kind and helpful. I don't know her name but I know she has taught music for ten years.
