The Exchange

JBER honestly has a very solid Exchange. There is a broad variety of vendors, and the commissary is contained in the same building making winter shopping much easier. The Exchange itself has a pretty broad array of selections, especially in the fitness section. The food court has a tendency to rotate vendors but has some good food choices available, even if they aren't necessarily the healthiest.

Nice exchange. Lots of self check outs so I was able to get what I needed fast and get out.

Must have base access. Doesn't really have the items I want for the activities in Alaska and what I would purchase the prices are not always better than what I can find out in town. Has a great firearms counter where you can purchase your hunting and fishing licenses. Furniture section has some great deals but you have to wait 6 months to a year for them to be shipped.

The barbershop inside the exchange do quick and rushed jobs. They clearly don’t know how to cut coarse hair. The two ladies were nice but you can’t be a barber and not know how to do all hair types. They butchered my childrens hair because it was a little to coarse for them AKA "black people hair". The blending needed work and they missed spots that should of been cut. I knew better but I gave them a try. They just didn’t have the experience like were use to at other bases.

Went to get some groceries but they have everything there. Prices were great! The people are real friendly and they take your groceries out to your car. The people that pack your bags and take them to your car work only for tips.

Always like the exchange. Clean and nicely laid out. Easy to get to. I wish they would be more focused on lower prices. It's too easy to find better deals off base.
